is the fed thing a meme or do they do any good work?

There are some good people in the org but the leadership sucks and are straight up revisionists. One of the co-chairs once wrote that “the dictatorship of the proletariat is the worst political idea put to paper” (paraphrased). The central committee has ossified and undermined democratic institutions within the party to ensure their continued staying power. I was in the party for a few years because it was the largest ML (ostensibly) party at the time and had international recognition through solidnet. But all we did was tailism for other progressive liberal orgs in our area and eventually just promoting democrats. I wanted no part of that so I left. There were good people in there who would push for real labor organizing, union drives, etc but those actions got no support from national and were sidelined constantly. The party as it exists has little revolutionary potential imo and acts as a sink for revolutionaries trying to get organized who just wind up wasting their time on some liberalism.

Edit: For those curious, here is the blog post where Joe Sims, current co-chair of CPUSA, says that the dictatorship of the proletariat is “the worst phrase uttered by a political theorist ever,” and also states that he doesn’t believe the USSR or Eastern Europe were socialist. He put out several of these blog posts around the same time and they’re all equally as revisionist, flat out misrepresenting the core tenets of Marxism.

Any time I heard or saw anything positive from them it was always something my folks had been doing for years in advance. Very minute changes that are trying to drag the party on the national level to modernity.

I’ve best heard it described as either an early bird church or a retirement home for most chapters centered around their new york headquarters. Cell meetings tend to be social picnics centered around brunch, most party work being centered around assisting the Democrat party get elected, and most energy and resources being channeled into running their news website.

With the most delightful advent (/s) of the acp however, I’ve more or less completely bit my tongue on criticizing them as even the most dogwater sucdem among them is a more welcoming sight than any member of the Strasserite party.

No, and the fed thing is always a meme it’s just something people say when they don’t understand how and why a person or organization might come to a decision they disagree with

Just criticize the CPUSA for shit that’s actually real like them being in, pratically, a united front with the democratic party since the 30s

DSA with some frequency ends up with better takes than CPUSA. Even with how trash US parties/orgs tend to be, you can do far better than them.

I’ve stopped paying dues to them. The only reason I joined was because I was unaware of the PSL.

I think the organization is deeply unserious and their leadership seems to push a lot of zionist shit.

I hope the PSL becomes something bigger than it is now but it seems unlikely in America

If there was anything interesting going on there, you would hear about it. If they do something interesting and can’t even get it marketed here, it’s not a sign of a healthy organization.

EDIT: I think I accidentally cropped it but there’s one more that I think precipitated it:

IIRC, he was asking about getting personal information from people in the thread from this one.

To clarify, Pluto’s ban was specifically over attempt(s) at gaining and releasing other users’ personal information on the site. Pluto made several comments doxxing other site users which were purged and don’t show up on the modlog.

Users can post all they want about goofy revisionist orgs. Go ahead and load the whole fediverse up with random spam posted to largely irrelevant communities. Just don’t try and figure out where people on the site live so you can tag them in threads about the place they live. That’s a great way to simultaneously not beat the Fed allegations and catch a permanent ban.

Sorry if it was unclear, but I was trying to express that with the edit, not criticizing this ban at all.

It was an extremely sus thread.

EDIT: like I didn’t know all of those details, but the thread he posted right before all of the comm bans was super weird and concerning

The top was infiltrated by feds at one point. It is my opinion it should be dissolved on principle. However I have had people tell me I am both dumb and wrong for this so who knows. I am sure there are comrades in good standing there but I will never trust them.
