The world hasn’t gone mad … it’s always been mad. We’re just noticing it more these days.
It definitely cycles more mad and less mad.
My theory is that every hundred years or so there is a major war that fucks up everybody’s lives. Then people think “hm, let’s not do that again”. Then it takes a few generations for it to fade from living memory and then the bullshit starts again.

I fondly remember the simpler times, with the cold war and threat of nuclear annihilation every day. Oh, Chernobyl was also a blast. The Gulf War made for great entertainment too.
