So, i bought an airpods 3 almost two years ago. I was pretty happy with them right up until the warranty was about to expire, when half of the earbuds stopped reliably charging in the case. I brought it into the apple shop, and eventually they exchanged the whole thing, case and airpods. Now, after around half a year later, the issue happened to me twice in a few days. Am i just unlucky, or does the airpods have some fairly significant design fault?
I don’t have or use AirPods, so take this advice with a grain of salt.
Sometimes charging issues can occur if any contacts get corroded. I’d get a cotton swab and dip it in isopropyl alcohol and give the interior a solid cleaning. Let it dry and try again.
Thanks, i did that (based on similar suggestions) and now we wait to see what happens. It’s just weird that it would happen twice in a row with one person.
I don’t know your location, but humid environments are rife with corrosion. Also, it could be that AirPod quality control has been shit lately.
Try cleaning them esp the charging terminals.
But, I wouldn’t be surprised if the battery is going in them.
What makes you say that?
Maybe there’s some kind of debris in the case causing it not to charge properly? Check that the contacts on the buds themselves are clean? Are you charging the case with the charger that came with the earpods or are you using a third party charger?
That’s all I can think of that would be easy solutions, otherwise yeah it might just be a bad set of earpods 🤷♂️
I use Raycons. My first set lasted like 5 years before they had any issues and I finally had to replace them last year
Thanks for the tips! Are you happy with the sound of raycons? Do you use them for music or meetings mostly?
I mostly use them for music when I’m out walking, but I also sometimes use them to watch videos on my phone and make phone calls. The sound quality on these new ones I got is excellent and they’re the cheaper model lol
