It’s by Appollo (writer) and Brüno (artist), a creative team who’ve already brought us quality series such as “T’zée”, “Commando Colonial” and “Biotope.” (which I previously reviewed HERE)

(right-click as needed)

Dargaud will be publishing this on October 31st, 2025. As usual, it will be in French, then translated to other languages in the coming weeks & months.

Personally, I love Brüno’s reductionist style, but classic LL having such expressive, hilarious characters and caricatures (by artist and founding creator Morris), I wondered if he could actually make it work with his typically minimalist facial expressions.

In fact, he seems to be doing okay with that(!)

And now for a bit of foolishness, in which we see how Google Translate does with a couple pages:

I used GonVisor image browser to do some small corrections, and learned a couple things along the way that will hopefully help for next time. :S

Oh, and TBC-- this adventure is from the excellent ‘homage’ line, independent of the official line. I am frankly finding these superior and more interesting than the main series, altho Ralf König’s one album “Choco-boys” didn’t work at all for me. But see what you think…

Thanks to linitiative.ca, I learned that this book involves a long, cross-country stagecoach journey to California, broken up in to seven mini-adventures, and clocking in at a plump 80pp. Apparently, the encounters will involve freed slaves, romantic / incendiary women, a visionary photographer, ace gunshooters, poets, and Native Americans.

Can’t wait! :D

Update: I’ve pre-ordered the German translation as a gift to my father. His collection of European graphic novels (it is huge!) taught me to read, and blessed me with a colorful childhood. I hope he’ll enjoy this one :-)
