    Him: flex his power and create a problem. Bring people to the table to negotiate concessions on their part. Undo the problem.

    Them: Hold the line. Talk to others. Wait for his market to tank. Buy the dip. Wait for him to walk away tail between his legs. Profit. Return to status quo.

      You forgot the part where you give him some meaningless ego stroking thing he can point to as a victory.

      We agreed on the basic concept that at a later date we should hold a meeting to start discussing our trade relationship. Or as trump would call it, we’ve agreed to the most massive and beautiful trade deal of all time, finally America won’t be raped anymore, we are going to be so rich because of these tariffs that it’s a great thing this deal has been struck to remove them.
