There are a lot of articles, including this one from VRT, talking about the increase in electricity production, but it should be said that this is/would be a global increase, normally affecting China and other countries in development. See the graph:

In Europe and other Western countries, the electricity consumption has been stable or slowly being reduced. See the graph for electricity consumption in Belgium, with a peak around 2010 and then a small reduction.

Maybe it’s just my perspective due to growing older but I’ve perceived the quality of VRT to go down really hard. Most articles or emissions seem like they’re just rehashed Reuter’s material. No critical notes, barely any links to the source material or real insight/explanation/history of the subject.
Take into account who is on the board, which is the N-VA, with all the cuts and they more preferring the commercial VTM station. The VRT had the reputation of being left wing in the past, but weird thing: truth is mostly left leaning.
Indeed, and sometimes they have gone a bit sensationalist and clickbaity… which is a pity because a good quality public media is very necessary. I think it has to do too with VRT being underfunded…

Another example of today…
