They were going to do this whether inflation was a factor or not. They come into an area, drive every small business out, and then raise their prices because they have no competitors. It’s been their business strategy for decades, and I’ve watched it happen.
Me remembering the conversation I had recently about egg prices and my argument that ‘they aren’t ever coming back down’
Now it’s time for the “based” version of “your cost of living is going up. Here’s why that’s a good thing, actually!”
I don’t think the hexbear comrade I was talking with would take that very well.
Just like covid, why waste an opportunity to price gouge
A private company using any excuse to raise prices because no one can stop them?
Remember when everyone did 10% “inflation” last year?
So cool that the “free market” works on supply and demand and we can choose to not buy food to send a message to our market partners so they readjust.
I was going to make flippant jokes about material conditions. But then I had a serious moment and realized that this is the kind of thing that could make Trumpist chuds start mass-shootings at Walmarts through their manipulated-misplaced anger.
They’re are raising their prices cause they can cause everyone else is. It’s fucked but this is just standard evil peak capitalism.
