In v1.9.0 we will be shipping the combined frontpage. In light of the recent release candidate we observed the wish to toggle it back to the old/current behavior.

What do you prefer? Which option should be the default?

  1. All
  2. Threads
  3. Microblog

(this is a setting and can of course be changed)

    I think 1 is good. For myself I prefer 2, having both by default feels out of place for me, I like the separation of having Microblogs be its own tab. But since there’d be a setting option 1 could be better, to show that there is a choice and you can actually see both on your main feed if you wish to.

      But, also, on the mobile site it actually makes sense to have the combined page, it looks a lot better there.

          Well, if there’s a toggle I can just choose, so I don’t mind. Like I said, on mobile browsers it looks better. On a desktop browser I’m turned off by the lay-out; threads get a nice thumbnail picture, microblogs get these huge images which makes it messy. If you could adress that, I’d go with mixed probably, since the uniqueness of Mbin is in the combination of both. Edit: Image for context;

      I also think most people use Mbin for mainly for threads… But I could be wrong.

      But like said before, there will be a profile setting to change the view. Its more about what would be the default view across the instance for all users (by default again)?

    Coppied from GitHub:

    I’m in favor of all being the default. I believe the combined view is also the default on Interstellar, so that would mean a consistent experience if Mbin used that as the default as well.

    People who don’t do any sort of exploration or experimentation in the UI could completely miss out on the microblogging side of Mbin. I believe that if the combined view is the default, it would make the microblogging side more prominent and less missed.
