Richard Wolff discusses this very article on today’s Socialist Program podcast. As always, astute.
They’re really trying to sell dystopia to people and it’s gotten weirdly blatant.
Its blatant because they rightly assess that people wont be able to stop them. Without an organized labor army, the rich can just wait out the bazillon protests and snarky posts and do their thing.
it’s been interesting and dreadful watching the rise of Immortan Joe politics
WaPo Business section doesn’t even understand it’s own neoliberal theories:
If every consumer’s prices for things are up, they are going to buy less things! How would THAT help all the businesses make profit?
That only applies to things that you can choose to buy or not buy. The prices of things that have skyrocketed are the basics, which most people can’t really do without for too long. Seems like that’s the bet all these monopolies have made.
I am describing the (terrible) microeconomics 101 supply/demand curve that the WaPo business section are contradicting by saying prices going up is good. I am not one of those trad economist nuts. I am just pointing out that they aren’t consistent with their own beliefs.
