Given the rise of fascism in Europe, it’s quite likely that this “decoupling” is temporary and will create austerity that will fuel the acceleration into fascism. Once that’s happened, one by one, European countries will become individual vassals to the US as they fight their own populations, purge their non-white elements to maintain austerity, and send millions to die to secure natural resources for the oligarchs.
