About a Year ago I received a Lenovo G710 from my Uncle. At the Time I looked at its Specs and saw it was just a bit better then the Laptop I’m still using now (Asus I7-4500U with 12gb of DDR3-1600) So I left it as was on a Shelf.
Yesterday a Friend of mine asked me if he could Buy it just to have a Laptop for on-the-go, so I figured I’d put in a SSD, Ram Upgrade and Repaste the Thermals which got me to look up its Technicals…
Much to my Suprise, turns out that not Only does it have 2 Ram Banks, but also a Socketed CPU- meaning I can Upgrade it!!
Now I do wonder just how Far I can Upgrade it? Right now its got an i5-4210M and around 8 Gigs of RAM. I’ve read in places that a i7-4712MQ is the most Performative you can get, is that true? I’ve also read Conflicting info on just how much RAM it can handle. Most places on the Internet say it can take a max of 16 gigs, yet I’ve seen claims of it going up to 32 gigs (All DDR3-1600), which the CPU does support.
Would love to hear your Folks Thoughts!
