Nobody has stated that Russia doesn’t have Nazis. The difference is that the Nazis in Russia aren’t at the levers of power in the government, nationalists are, while in Kiev the Banderites folded in Nazis officially and use fascist imagery at a state level.

      From davel’s compilation, again:

      • BBC, 2014: Ukraine underplays role of far right in conflict
      • Human Rights Watch, 2014: Ukraine: Unguided Rockets Killing Civilians
      • The Hill, 2017: The reality of neo-Nazis in Ukraine is far from Kremlin propaganda
      • The Guardian, 2017: ‘I want to bring up a warrior’: Ukraine’s far-right children’s camp – video
      • WaPo, 2018: The war in Ukraine is more devastating than you know
      • Reuters, 2018: Ukraine’s neo-Nazi problem
      • The Nation, 2019: Neo-Nazis and the Far Right Are On the March in Ukraine
      • openDemocracy, 2019: Why Ukraine’s new language law will have long-term consequences
      • Jacobin, 2022: A US-Backed, Far Right–Led Revolution in Ukraine Helped Bring Us to the Brink of War
      • Consortium News, 2022: Evidence of US-Backed Coup in Kiev
      • Al Jazeera, 2022: Why did Ukraine suspend 11 ‘pro-Russia’ parties?
      • History of Fascism in Ukraine: Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV

Groups like Azov have been folded in officially. The Kiev regime upholds Stepan Bandera and uses likeness for propaganda. Nazis infest Ukrainian leadership:

The east supported Yanukovych, and that’s why the far-right Banderites couping him kicked off the war.

OHHHH, so now your Nazis aren’t as bad as their Nazis?

You need a hand hauling those goalposts around?

your Nazis aren’t as bad as their Nazis

Imagine a continuum of nazis with ‘dead’ (good) on one side and ‘in total control of a country’ (bad) on the other

Ukrainian nazis are among the worst today

You are pretending so desperately not to understand what you’re being told. Yes, nazis running an entire government are measurably worse for the world than nazis serving as cannon fodder. Ask 13,000 dead eastern Ukranians.

The point has been that Kiev is run by Banderites that empower Nazis at the state level, and that they have been ethnically cleansing Donetsk and Luhansk. Nobody is saying that one nazi is better than another nazi, I think all nazis should be shot, but that the nazis actually hold the levers of power in Kiev and not in Russia.

And, coming back all the way around to my original point, how does this justify the mountain of Russian war crimes?

Did the people of Bucha deserve to die?

Did the apartment buildings, hospitals, restaurants, and schools bombed indiscriminately by Shaheds deserve it?

There is no evidence you can offer that excuses or justifies Russia’s actions. None. Ever.

I’m not justifying war crimes committed by Russia, nor am I justifying the mountain of war crimes committed by Kiev over the last decade. Letting the Banderites walk into Donetsk and Luhansk and slaughter people would have been bad, plain and simple.

Shockingly, you and I agree on something.

Russia is committing war crimes in Ukraine.

                Was that so hard?

No? Never denied that Russia has committed war crimes in the Russo-Ukrainian war. Seems to be hard for you to admit that Nazis are running Ukraine and have been committing war crimes for a decade, though, and that this is worse than what Russia is doing, which is why the Donbass region supports Russia, with Donetsk and Luhansk voting to join the Russian Federation.

On 7 October 2014 in Zuhres, 53-year-old Ukrainian Ihor Kozhoma, who was trying to take his wife out of the occupied territory, was tied to a column and tortured for several hours by Russians and local separatists.

Did he deserve to be tortured and killed?

Donetsk civilian resident Iryna Dovhan was publicly tortured for her pro-Ukrainian position in August 2014.

Did she deserve to be tortured?

A member of Human Rights Watch witnessed the exhumation of a mass grave in Sloviansk that was uncovered after insurgents retreated from the city.

Did those people deserve to be murdered and flung in a ditch?
