Anyone know a way to get which churches congress members attend?
Because I found a few pastors who are willing to point out the congress members voting against the teachings of Christ in front of the whole congregation in a good old fashioned public shaming.
implying these “christian” politicians attend church
Good point. A joint statement of that behavior might shame them too
Of course they do, even if only performatively. Few avowed atheists get elected anywhere in the US.
My suggestion to OP is to look at news articles. Politicians make sure to get on the record as being ‘observant’ whenever possible.
Photo ops at ribbon-cutting ceremonies or at a high holy festival - same-same in politics.
Alternatively, @bacon_pdp@lemmy.world You can just call said Congresscritters office and ask a staffer. The worst they can say is no.
I have never mentioned someone (@) on Lemmy.
Did I do that right?
Looks like it
That’s what pastors should be doing.
However, isn’t it also those particular pastors who should know if a member of Congress is in their congregation?
It is more have pastors willing to do so but not knowing where to coordinate sending them
I’m a sort of Christian pastor. I avoid talking politics at church, but I make sure to drop big hints about leaders who profess to follow Christ while in reality they fight against Him.
I think convincing Christians of the dissonance between the teachings of Christ and the desires of Christian nationalists will be huge to defeating MAGA.
Well, you could point out that some Trump supporters made a golden idol of Trump and worship it.
Further that Trump’s plan of ending the separation of Church and State will be the death of Christianity in the United States
