Hot take: Social media is not the problem, it’s the algorithms that keep people engaged by funnelling them down the rabbit hole of ever more enraging content. Rather than banning the mechanisms by which people interact across the globe in the modern age, we should ensure the algorithms are based on reducing hate and lies, and promoting positivity and facts, rather than extracting the maximum watch time. Finally the people causing the biggest problem for teenagers are the billionaires hoarding wealth, let’s ban billionaires and distribute their wealth to educate teenagers.
