      Shortsightedness due to populist political tendencies enabled by an unenlightened (as in not akin to the values and associated behaviour of enlightenment) population which could afford this uninterested and self-righteous stance in the past decades of stability?

      Put short in the germany context 16 years of Merkel stagnation and managerial politics.
