We need more than what the greens are, a junior partner of the “left center” corporate sell outs. We need aggressive populist reform. A lot of it economic primarily, but there is an environmental angle in that, and a lot to answer for in systematic pollution affecting us and every other living creature, often so companies can save a marginal amount of money.
But like Mamdani did sort of, we need candidates that are aggressive and that people can’t help but notice are fighting the status quo, calling out groups cheating us, pick a fight with some oligarch and their company that is particularly bad. There is no shortage of villains to choose from anywhere in the west.
The greens aren’t geared towards the kind of real politik that can sweep elections and put the fascist threat in the grave. Not yet anyway. The plutocracy here either gets reformed by us, or by those fascists led by the worst elements of that plutocracy, misdirecting anger. There are no other options.
Either we take these labor party type parties, or use the greens, or start a new one. The labor type parties are pretty fucked through and through at this point, a lost cause and a lot of baggage perhaps.
