  • Why do you think you understand every person

i have not said that. also, the thinking of the people is not relevant here, the result is.

    Bravery does exist.

it does exist, but going on a suicide mission that is not going to change anything is not bravery. it is useless.

There are people willing to risk their lives for their ideals without being selfish and proud about it. It’s not always main character syndrome just because you’re unable to imagine any other explanation.

yes, it is. there are only two possible outcomes. either your death for the cause does not change anything, and then why would you decide to suicide in the first place?

or you think you are so important that your death will change things, and if you think that, you are just delusional. i am not trying to be asshole here, i am being realistic. if the fucking pope decided to visit there and they would accidentally bomb him to sto’vo’kor, they would say “oops, that was unfortunate” and people would mourn for a week, before things would go right back to where they were before.

  • they are aware that they will probably die. It’s not stupidity, it’s bravery.

if you expect to die and still go through with your plan, that it is the definition of stupidity. if you think you are so important that your death will move millions and finally change things, that is the main character syndrome that is being discussed.

in reality, she will get two news cycles and that will be it. nothing will be changed and she will be dead. if she really wants to do something, it is much smarter to do anything where she does not die in the process.

  • edit: also drones are dirt cheap, so what if some of your quads get shot, you can launch hundreds at once

there were 2 million people in gaza at the end of 2024 according to wiki.

the “dirt cheap” drones will cost 10k+ usd and will be able to carry few kg of payload for quite a limited distance, say 10km.

feeding 2 million people using that can only work in a kid’s cartoon show.

  • i don’t think it is the same problem as privatization of fema. world is not going to change because scientists publish a report and some average joe like you or me says “exactly. time to do something about it!”.

this change, unfortunately, cannot come from the bottom. i could buy new electric car (if i could afford it), but since i live in a country where 75% of energy comes from fossil fuels, it doesn’t really change anything, it just moves the exhaust pipe from the car to local coal power plant. this needs big structural change and that change will come when and only when the BIG MONEY™ finds out that doing business as usual started to hurt their bottom line and they cannot bullshit their way out of it.

and to me, the discussed news means we are at that point and they realize that. will they try to cheat and hoard as much money as possible during the process? of course they will, but they would do it anyway, so i am really glad we have at least arrived at this point.

  • as pretentious and exaggerated statement as the first one, or so i suspect. while there are unfortunately still slaves in this world, taking your first statement into account, i doubt you are a person who fled from literal slavery.

society is all around you and literally the only way to quit it is to move somewhere where it is not present. which is a deserted island, or few selected areas in central australia, central africa, maybe some northern canada…

but maybe i have it wrong, in that case please enlighten me and explain your secret. how have you exited the society while simultaneously having this discussion on the internet?
