  • Yea I got TOTK and played it for a day on my switch and the aliasing on the trees as I was running around was so awful and distracting that I started setting up emulation on my PC. I don’t run it at 120 but I have played it at 4k/60fps on my living room TV via my gaming PC and it looks absolutely stunning that way. Every time I start it up I’m almost pissed that most people won’t experience Zelda that way. That’s most of the reason I don’t push the performance when emulating on my deck; I’ve got the PC already for the hi fidelity experience.

  • You know what has been great? Being on a vacation and bringing my steam deck and playing tears of the kingdom off of it with better performance than the original switch had. I paid for it and ripped it myself because I still believed it was the right thing to do, but with Nintendo’s increased focus year after year against emulation enthusiasts like we’re fucking criminals, I’m gonna give them something to removed about. I’m never paying another dime to Nintendo for as long as I live, and that is coming from someone who grew up with a super Nintendo and an N64. Fuck yourself Nintendo. Yo ho and a bottle of get fucked.

  • Right I love that comic! But I think the joke there is the expectation that a unix user would be able to do something as simple as opening a .tar.gz file, something that’s a much more common experience among nix users, but truth is many experienced users would still need to look up the exact syntax (me included). This meme is more like “look at how absurd of a command you can use in bash; can you tell the difference?” I dunno just doesn’t hit the same to me. Appreciate you sharing that xkcd though.

  • How the hell are you suggesting that a single group of 10,000 to 100,000 people can “use their manpower in one day to remove everyone close to Trump”?? Are you saying that the January insurrections were a good idea? The tough part you’re not considering is that to preserve (what’s left) of democracy we need to continue abiding by its principles as frustrating as it might sound. We need democracy intact after this is all over. One could almost infer that your comment seeks to invite violence.

  • That’s fair! I’ve always seen this community as an environment for advocating Linux use to Lemmings and much of the time the memes are comparative in nature to other options (ex the current to meme in this community about vendor lock in) so I’m just injecting my own historical view about this community. If it’s not comparative; then why is it really that funny? In that case it just reads like an exam in a CIS final.

I could imagine a command like this being used as part of a CI/CD script doing static analysis in a virtualized environment where the build is running in a *nix container. There’s more maintainable options as well (ie easier for an entire team of developers to understand / lower ‘bus factor’).

Lol someone is so mad about this they’re going around downvoting all my replies. Guess that’s easier than coming up with a thoughtful reply and actually conversing but whatever you do you boo
