selective tariffs can sometimes be "nice"for maintaining domestic businesses, or keeping standards in local markers (ex, canadian dairy has a higher standard than american dairy, but less production capacity, if there were no tariffs on american dairy, our market would be flooded by low quality dairy, putting local farmers out of work, pulling money out of our economy, and overall lowering dairy drinking/eating populations overall quality of health over time). but swathing blanket tariffs are fucking dumb when you dont produce the shit you are putting tariffs on, all you end up doing is charging your citizens more for everything. for the sake of his ego, at this point hes just punishing the global economy, the american economy, and of course americans and would be americans more than anyone else.
