If it makes you feel better, some stores have a policy not to ID people over 65, so cashiers just put people’s age as 65 when they don’t want to bother to card someone.

I was buying beer at one of those places where the cashier had to input your birthdate into the register. The cashier said “Oops, I put a 9 instead of an 8”, and then handed me my beer. Suddenly realizing I could drink legally for over a decade made me feel old.

I would argue that immigration is a right, not just a privilege. If people want to be Americans, the government should not be able to stop them.

A coworker of mine started falling down the YouTube conspiracy rabbit hole. He said something about the moon landing maybe being a hoax. I told him that when I was in college I used the big telescope to look at the moon landing site, so I knew for sure it was real. After that, he believed in the moon landing.

Now of course I was lying about seeing the moon landing site. Terrestrial telescopes can’t see the landing site. I convinced my friend to believe the truth by countering a lie from a stranger with a lie from someone he trusts.

The same third of the country consistently ruins it for the rest of us.

You can definitely find this dynamic in anime, although a lot of the romance stories are about couples getting together rather than an established relationship. “Horimya” and “My Dress Up Darling” are both series which are recent and very popular. They might be close to what you want.
