  • Years ago I read something online about “target fixation” which can occur when walking past someone. It’s basically that thing when you lock eyes with someone walking towards you and neither of you can decide which way to go?

Anyway the thing I read said just look past the person, like just focus behind them and you can usually avoid this weird awkwardness. I’ve found it totally works!

  • We pay for it with taxes so it’s not really free but yeah, the Medicare system means you don’t pay for hospital visits. Plenty of people still chose to get private health insurance but it’s more of a luxury than anything I think.

I broke my collarbone in two places just yesterday, currently in a hospital bed and will potentially get surgery this afternoon and don’t expect to pay much at all, it’s a good system.

(Shout out to St Vincents in Melbourne!)

  • I work in hospitality and while all your points are valid I do wish there was a solution that allowed a little wiggle room accounting for good communication and personal responsibility.

There area where I live has dozens of small bars and pubs and my issue with every single place accommodating every possible allergic reaction and preference is that they can kind of end up samey. I’m not saying it’s realistic but I don’t think it’d be a bad thing for Pub A to say Dogs are fine but no kids please as long as Pub B says Kids are great but no dogs and Pub C can say No kids or dogs but weird sex shit is fine. A man can dream!
