6·7 days agoVacuuming your place while you go get groceries is pretty nice, according to my late mother. And her favorite feature was: the thing easily fit under the bed, so she didn’t have to remind herself she was not as spry as she used to be.

7·22 days agoCould someone tell Microsoft I switched to Linux ten years ago? They don’t have to encourage me anymore.
Lye+ cornstarch+vinegar? But the vinegar is an acid, and lye a base… You’re getting water there.
I’ll make sure to ask for a refund then.
I should learn how to use FreeCAD (or OpenSCAD) but unfortunately, my printer cannot print motivation…

9·1 month agoPretty sure you can find schematics to make a BT100 printer somewhere ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BT100 ). You wouldn’t want to, but you can.
More seriously, I think the main problem is simply achieving a usable resolution for a 3D printer is way easier than for a 2D one. Hence why the real hard part (the print head) is using an HP cartridge instead of rolling out their own here. Given my quick googling, it’s usually that or building an inaccurate pen plotter and calling it a printer…
Brother HL 2030, and the scanner is a Mustek 1248UB, both chosen for their Linux compatibility at the time. And most likely both discontinued.
We’re not exactly great at economics too…
Because remaking the world to suit what robots we can make is more work.

2·2 months agoToo bad so few PC GPUs support HDMI CEC: you wouldn’t need a dedicated IR port on the machine, and your parents wouldn’t have to figure out a new remote.
