19 days agoI’ve been meaning to look into them a little more closely. The investor capital is a red flag, but not necessarily a deal breaker. Something that would increase my confidence would be open source code to demonstrate how they’re handling data (e.g. what have they prevented themselves from even having access to in unencrypted form).
The science community used to be very active on Twitter. Now a significant portion of it has migrated to BlueSky. I’m an ecologist, but I don’t use social media much personally, and not at all professionally. I have a Mastodon server, and I still think that platform has a lot going for it.
