I’ve noticed with enough time people stop caring and find something else to be vengeful for. When I say enough time I mean hundreds or even thousands of years. You don’t see many upset about what the Aztecs did to the Maya for instance. I doubt they had justice, people just moved on to the next tragedy.

I’m noticing the structure now, although it doesn’t change who can view posts and comment. As for SA, I’m not sure, I’ve never been, right now would be a bad time to visit though from what I’ve heard. They are having a pretty serious xenophobia push right now, more so pointed at other Africans. Karibu east Africa rafiki yangu. I highly doubt there is an east African instance, people barely know reddit exists, much less something like here. Is China actually communist though? Like is their government or economics actually communist? Also I don’t think communism and China are one and the same. Finally all things should be open to fair criticism and discussion. There’s no need to turn politics into religion2.0

It’s nice to see content that isn’t just about poor or war torn areas. There are nice cities and people do indeed have water, electricity, wi-fi, and so on. First and foremost a lot of people are not political except during elections and most people are more concerned with local or regional politics than what’s happening globally.

Most around here are pro China if asked but they don’t understand the deals that are being done are predatory. The US doesn’t have much presence in east Africa although their recent push to treat Americans who had contact with Ebola in Kenya definitely caused issues. Typically they would be flown home or if not possible treated where they are.

I would say people generally have a negative view of the US and the west but they liked Trump a lot up until the issue with Iran and fuel prices. It’s mostly because of his stance on LGBTQ which is often seen as a western disease and is very unwelcomed in most of Africa (I personally don’t mind what consenting adults do). Also that many believed him to be honest, direct, and a Christian.

The end to USAID was difficult but simultaneously it’s understood it was free money and around here there’s no such thing as free money. Unfortunately most of it (like most things) didn’t reach people in need and found its way to peoples pockets or had harmful outcomes like disrupting local agriculture. Some of it did help and now people are suffering without it.

As for information I’m not a good example of most people given my IT background. Although Twitter and Instagram are popular here and even Reddit in some places. I would say most older people or people without smart phones only have the radio, tv, and of course their local community through which to get news.

And when you’ve been duped by a handful of junkies looking for a fix, who should probably get an Oscar for their performance? In poorer places they are very minimal with resources because of the cost. In places like the US you have tight regulations after the opioid epidemic. I imagine in places with primary socialized medicine it’s controlled for both reasons.

Yeah it’s a good microcosm for what initiated my post. No matter where I am here I face a lot of this. Me criticizing China doesn’t mean I love the US. Me criticizing the US doesn’t mean I love China. Every nation has skeletons in their closet and we don’t need to act like that isn’t the case.

Yeah what’s happening to the Uyghur people should probably stop and the suspicious surplus of human organs over the years has been more than interesting.

Yes I am no one’s friend as they are not my friend. The west, the east, the middle east, and India have all come here at one time or another to play bad games, to take advantage, to rape and kill as they see fit. African countries have no friends in this world, only enemies. That said so far to my knowledge there are no bad behaviors from latin America and obviously some Pan-African friendship with Caribbean nations but that’s more spiritual than financial. That’s besides maybe latin cartels now using African ports and routes to traffic to Europe but that’s mostly harmless here so far.

Many are very pro-ccp and they did aid greatly in independence but the deals that are happening are predatory. When they come to build they don’t train anyone. They come, they isolate their workers from the “dirty Africans”, they bring their own food, they build the road and leave. In return they are given favorable deals for land and resources that will pay out many fold more than what was given. In the meantime the road they built will be collapsing and useless while they are still still extracting raw materials. The only ones who are pro-ccp are the ones who can’t think about next week or next year or ten years from now, all they see is right in front of their face and absolutely nothing else.

As the self proclaimed leader of the free world there was a time where there was an attempt but behind it was always those with anterior motives. As for today I wonder what their goal is. Their leader only seems to care for himself alone and anyone following him will likely be left eating dust. That’s not to say the leaders here aren’t exactly the same. In fact I see a lot of similarities between the US and here these days.
