In Europe smartphones have all call recording features disabled. “Because of regulations”. So corporations and scammers can record us whenever they wish, bu lt we cannot, even though it would provide us some defence. I thing the ‘regulations’ here protect the wrong side. Which is surprising, as EU is usually quite decent in consumer protection.
But the country is not playing for profit of this single company, which would probably be the case in USA (as the company would have lobbying power yo secure that)
Secure services should always have limited trust to user data and devices. Security built on ‘Google says the device is secure’ is broken. Yes, it is convenient fir service providers who do not care about their customer rights, but more for ‘intellectual property’ and liability.
Lots of apllications still work in web browsers without TPM-based, kernel level DRMs and many of them are still reasonably secure. They are built with the assumption user controls their device. This has always been possible and still is possible. Just inconvenient for corporations.

Are you talking about owner safety, or some bussiness security. Yes the device is ‘insecure’ if you are taking the point of view of DRM provider or software vendor who wants to make sure advertisements are displayed, etc. Or if your software actual security depends of taking control away from the user. But actual end user security does not have to depend on that.
That is probably a reason there are no special regulations for bicycle yet. But it is still a good idea to protect it.
The idea is not repairability by the end users (those should never try to fix their microwave oven themselves) but to make repairs possible by any competent technician.
For many years Russian civilians just didn’t care about the war, Ukraine being destroyed and Ukrainian being killed. Should this just continue? Bad things happening to Ukrainian civilians and no consequences for Russians?
Yes, that sucks. It is a very bad and a very sad thing that such things happen. But Ukraine is just out of options and they are trying anything to survive. Unlike Russia they still try not to kill civilians and target economy rather than people. But what if that still doesn’t work?
There is an easy way out for Russia, just stop the war, leave Ukraine. But for that the government must be changed and only Russians can do that.

I have not been following that issue too much, so I cannot tell how good or bad current solution is.
But it is easier to sell out to China. Short term profit, no need for long term planning and risjs that those include. Those manufacturers no longer care for their brand or long term sustainability. In such case closing factories and selling what they have makes most sense. In the end they still can cry ‘China bad’ anyway.

As I understand, this are just statistics useful for objectively comparing therapies. Median of 11 vs 7 months may be some measurable number of people who end cancer-free. But you cannot count people that will live a few decades more in a trial that last only some years.
Depending on a nearby river being cool is not the only way for water cooling loops (which are needed not only for nuclear, but for any power plant using steam turbines).

That is what I expected. There is a place in the market to sell more RAM and Chinese manufactureres will use it. They will build capacity to build those chips, eventually cheaper and maybe even better what the ‘West’ can do. And then the Western companies will complain, that ‘this is not fair!’. Like with all the other manufacturing we gave away to China.
The process is ongoing since 90’s last century. In some places going smooth (like my city, now full of modern industry) and quite painfully in others.
I tried some of those apps. Sine would be ‘Unavailable for my device’, some would install and start, but not work, because if unavailable API and some would pretend to work, but 9nky record my side of the call (using microphone not actual call audio). Samsung decided this should not be available for me, even though it would be legal here. But I may give it a try again. Maybe thing changed.
