While it pains me to mention reddit, a certain sub has allowed me to watch basically any region or subscription locked broadcast for F1 and IMSA event I’ve wanted for a while. Just need to make sure the ad blocker is up. There is zero chance I’m subbing to Peacock to watch a handful of sportscar races throughout the year

8·1 month agoI’ve watched a bunch of his videos before. He has an old abandoned car factory with a ton of equipment. No idea how any of the building maintenance has been paid for since they were in rough shape but would be cool to see it in action. Not sure YouTube ad dollars and patreon will carry him all the way there though

News@lemmy.world•Trump fires all commissioners of federal election agency
5·1 month agoBut not just anyone… The court said he couldn’t fire that guy from the fed, cause that’s clearly the only important thing that the president needs oversight on /s. Despite the fact that he’s destroying the economy other ways. It’s all fucking ridiculous
I generally like them, except those really loud ones that barely look like anything. After I got my dog who is terrified of them I’d happily never seen fireworks again.

Technology@lemmy.world•Android verification is coming: Google confirms timeline and supported app storesEnglish
60·2 months agoIts wild that they say this is to prevent people from getting scammed, meanwhile there is a ton of shit in the Play store that steals peoples info, mines crypto in the background or pops up ads every 4 seconds. But yea, this is for everyone’s safety…

Technology@lemmy.world•DOJ reportedly demands Apple and Google identify over 100,000 users of car appEnglish
25·3 months agoThey are citing Clean Air Act violations as a reason they are going after the app!? Pretty wild considering his EPA is actively trying to let car makers to pollute more and I’m pretty sure rolling coal is legal now. The app makers must have some details about the Epstein files or something

6·3 months agoI think I’ve seen somewhere that you should set up reference values or something so that you can change parameters on the fly without breaking anything, which is insane to need to have to do that to avoid running into the ‘topological naming issue’ that magically no other package had a problem with. I’ve basically stopped using filets and chamfers because those will just destroy any chance I can update anything on the model later on.
The community really is brutal too. I remember reading someone getting taken down because they were asking how to extrude instead of pad while they were on the ‘part design’ workbench

8·4 months agoAside from the obvious concerns, from a cost perspective why would you chose ring when you have to pay for it to be useful. There are other options that are cheaper and free to use as long as you pop an SD card in them. Obviously they aren’t totally innocent of concern but feels like people do zero research into what’s available.

Technology@lemmy.world•‘Devastating blow’: Atlassian lays off 1,600 workers ahead of AI pushEnglish
6·5 months agoI’ve had to use it in various forms for so long now and I can’t believe how unintuitive it is to use. Nothing outside of adding comments is obvious. I dared to try to see what was in a previous sprint and it basically requires a custom report. Why isn’t there just a view sprint dropdown or something? I did a quick search to see if it was just me which lead to the Jira subreddit (why is that a thing?) and felt like I was getting gaslit by all the jira ‘professionals’ calling it a skill issue

Technology@lemmy.world•The TV industry finally concedes that the future may not be in 8KEnglish
9·7 months agoI have a Samsung frame because I wanted a TV that didn’t look so much like I had one, but the software is so goddam bad. The only way to switch sources quickly is to set them as a favorite which isn’t always that straight forward if you didn’t do it right away. Regardless you have to let the the home page fully render before you can even worry about that. Even the Samsung TV app which you would think would be perfectly optimized for the hardware since the same compare makes the software is barely functional and loads like a web page on AOL in 1998
I wonder if it depends on the phone. I remember seeing it a bunch which was super annoying when I was just using the aux in my car. My 2 year razr doesn’t seem to care if my ears bleed at all. I saw the message once when I got it and it never returned.

Technology@lemmy.world•The AI explosion isn't just hurting the prices of computers and consoles – it's coming for TVs and audio tech tooEnglish
4·7 months agoHa. judging by how well most of them run even today, not very much
I’ve had a few but would never pay that much. Especially after having one from McDonald’s in Maine awhile ago for like $10 that tasted exactly the same. I check every time I’m up there and it’s never been available again
Ha, and it’s always something that probably gets like 4mpg.

20·11 months agoGlad to see they have to pay up but what was different about this compared to the similar case that Meta won the other day?
It’s probably fine, but Imma leave that link blue

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Completely and utterly useless (Rufus AI by Amazon)
5·1 year agoWhen they first released it it basically had no guard rails so I had it generate a bunch of sql code and answer unrelated questions. Seems they ‘fixed’ that so it’s now completely useless.
I laughed pretty hard at this while also unexpectedly learning how to clean up a mess I made changing the oil in my car on a particularly windy day recently!

Miata is always the answer!
