I did care in the past. Probably this post will make me create couple more badges to reach lvl 40 (I’m lvl 37 currently), and with that booster pack boost (probably 1% altogether) I will just sell all of mine.

If you have no interest in making them into a collection - just sell it or gift it to friends who want it.
Probably you ‘get more’ out of them if you give them away. They will be more happy than you are with 18 cents :D.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Women 30+, how do you deal with all these symptoms? I've been dealing with all of this ever since turning 30 (am 32)
7·2 days agoJust to add: half of those symptoms sounds like a seasoned alcoholic.

unions@lemmy.ml•GM lays off more than 1,000 workers at Detroit plant — then adds 50 robots: 'We are in a fight for humanity.' Is this progress or betrayal?
2·2 days agoI’m still saying: if a machine replaces human jobs those machines should pay the income tax those lost jobs made. For rest of their existence.
This would make them think twice and pay back to society at the same time.
And ATMs in banks count as a machine also, same with AI chatbots and answering service.

And Finally...@feddit.uk•Bringing 'Green Boots' home 30 years after climber died on Everest
8·2 days agoFascinating. Wonder if anyone else will get home from the rainbow road.
It is fascinating how it reflects on the human mind. Extreme sports, risk taking and chasing some fame.
With the family left behind, I am not even sure they know what they were really risking. Being alive and dead is way more than a binary equation.

Fuck Cars@lemmy.ml•1 in 5 new car buyers are stuck in a $1,000-a-month nightmare, and it’s ruining their long-term wealth
2·2 days agoNot anymore. Most new cars only work about 5 yrs, after that sudden ‘unexpected’ problems start popping up. Obviously in built degradation - according to couple mechanics I trust, german brands are really bad / good at timing their failures at the end of your loan term. But other brands are following also - so pre covid cars are still fine-ish.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do so many people regardless of whether their reasonings are justified or not pinpoint South Park for ruining a generation of millenials?
82·2 days agoI just don’t like South Park. There are couple good episodes - but to me most of it is slop for the masses.
Very little actual value over shock factor and being vulgar for vulgarity sake.
Tho it is my personal preference - if you enjoy it go ahead and have fun! Life is just too short and messed up.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Looking to get a water flosser, what are good qualities to look for? Is waterpik worth the price?
12·3 days agoI do like Waterpick, because I had a good experience with their customer service. (I messed up the travel sized one by letting the batteries leak out in it, tried to purchase a replacement battery door and they sent me a brand new one.)
I have a portable and a regular unit.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Would it be offensive for me to wear bonnets as a white person?
2·4 days agoI don’t see problem wearing that kinda showercap looking bonnets - but I would definitely look for different styles for myself. Because I don’t care for that look, and not because I think it is racially patented.
Some cultural reference:
“A hullámban” means a bit more also: There were two ‘water parks / pools’ that had a wave pool. Usualy Palatinusz fürdő was referenced as ‘hullám’- the other was Gellért but that was probably too posh for Jucika.

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Man arrested after 'dressing as Grim Reaper' at hospital and staring at patientsEnglish
12·5 days agoThere are situations where it isn’t: loosing the morher and baby at the same time - you look outside and there is this baboon making fun of it.
But if you look at a Scrooge like situation it might poke someone in the right direction also.
It would be more appropriate to be in a grim reaper costume in front of smoke shops / liquor stores. Nobody would raise an eyebrow. And that’s still funny while being the good guy reminding people of the dangers.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Multilingual people of Lemmy who learned a language (or multiple) as adults, how did you do it?
1·5 days agoHave you tried to give them american comic books? Or some very popular teenager adventure stories?
It is hard to grab someone’s interest if it’s just schoolwork…

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Multilingual people of Lemmy who learned a language (or multiple) as adults, how did you do it?
3·5 days agoAppreciate the compliment!
My accent is really strong and that won’t change. I don’t have the ability to do that.
Interesting to note: I noticed that native US speakers actually struggle more to understand really strong accented second language English.
They don’t have a problem with the southern deep deep “crocodile hunter” English, but watch something with a very strong accented English - even some Ted talks - and they start to struggle.

802·5 days agoAt first glance it is really funny. But of course the people who were genuinely affected are the victims. And nothing funny about it.
Reading the article I don’t think the guy is actually 100 there. I believe he is struggling and just acting out - not that it is an excuse.Gillespie also stole £30 to £40 of cat food and litter from a local Pets at Home on March 26, along with food and drink from Sainsbury’s in Llandudno on May 28, a court heard. He was ordered to pay £100 in fines, £100 in cost to the Crown Prosecution Service and £50 in compensation.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Multilingual people of Lemmy who learned a language (or multiple) as adults, how did you do it?
12·5 days agoMy second language was German - then I was forced to pick up a third in high school. It was English…
I sucked in both those mainly because I didn’t want to learn. I chalk it up for my undiagnosed dyslexia - that didn’t help to make it fun at all. What made me to stick to English is: everything was English on the Internet, all the games and so on.
Then I wanted to read some not yet translated book series so went to read in English. I wasn’t speaking it.
Then moved to the big old USA and now I’m 99% English only. I do understand some German but ohh boy did it move into passive knowledge…So when you have no choice you will learn. (Tho there are so many people who don’t speak English and proud of it… That’s the one thing I can’t wrap my head around. How can be proud of your refusal to learn.)
Edit: forgot to recommend something - I believe it is phenomenal in some cases: language transfer I tried the English to Spanish and it is amazing for a native English speaker - hut there is value for non native speaker also!

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•suddenly getting married not for love but to pool resources and pay less in taxes doesn't look like a bad idea. Am I broken?
6·5 days agoYour idea is as old as marriage for love.
No one will stop you, and in today’s world it is even easier to ‘get away’ with it. If you are hetero you could even marry a same-sex person that way potential babies as problem are out of the window. I’m assuming you don’t want kids, and you won’t change your mind? That’s the only safe way to do it.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How can people know what they want at a given moment?
1·7 days agoIt is easy to feel isolated in today’s world. But you are not alone and all these answers proved it. :)
There are libraries, table games stores and other places where you can meet new people in real life - a new hobby or volunteering might also help.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How can people know what they want at a given moment?
2·7 days agoI’m sorry to hear that. Honestly it seems you are in a bad spot at this moment.
Depression can take many forms and loosing interest, turning everything dull / gray can be a symptom.
Hope you can find joy in some little things! There are many things in life that if you notice them - they can brighten up your mood. (Just do not read any news, for real).
There are good things out there, you might just need to look really hard.
Maybe start small and start making a list of what good / happy things you saw a day - start with one and eventually you can find more. (There were days when I struggled putting down anything.)

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How can people know what they want at a given moment?
2·8 days agoMaybe you have a different trigger.
How about thinking about… Getting a 3d printer part, getting some new tool from a hardware store, getting a new game, trying a new table game, getting a new book, getting new equipment for … Sports / computing / gaming?
Edit: some more: getting new make up, trying a new sport or hobby, thinking of upcoming projects for yourself, hone decoration, gardening, getting a new kitchen gadget, looking for a new sourdough/beer/wine/cocktail recipe…

5 dollars are still 5 dollars - you can buy some very cheap indie games with it :)
