  • At first glance it is really funny. But of course the people who were genuinely affected are the victims. And nothing funny about it.
Reading the article I don’t think the guy is actually 100 there. I believe he is struggling and just acting out - not that it is an excuse.

Gillespie also stole £30 to £40 of cat food and litter from a local Pets at Home on March 26, along with food and drink from Sainsbury’s in Llandudno on May 28, a court heard. He was ordered to pay £100 in fines, £100 in cost to the Crown Prosecution Service and £50 in compensation.

  • My second language was German - then I was forced to pick up a third in high school. It was English…
I sucked in both those mainly because I didn’t want to learn. I chalk it up for my undiagnosed dyslexia - that didn’t help to make it fun at all.

What made me to stick to English is: everything was English on the Internet, all the games and so on.
Then I wanted to read some not yet translated book series so went to read in English. I wasn’t speaking it.
Then moved to the big old USA and now I’m 99% English only. I do understand some German but ohh boy did it move into passive knowledge…

So when you have no choice you will learn. (Tho there are so many people who don’t speak English and proud of it… That’s the one thing I can’t wrap my head around. How can be proud of your refusal to learn.)

Edit: forgot to recommend something - I believe it is phenomenal in some cases: language transfer I tried the English to Spanish and it is amazing for a native English speaker - hut there is value for non native speaker also!

  • I’m sorry to hear that. Honestly it seems you are in a bad spot at this moment.
Depression can take many forms and loosing interest, turning everything dull / gray can be a symptom.
Hope you can find joy in some little things! There are many things in life that if you notice them - they can brighten up your mood. (Just do not read any news, for real).
There are good things out there, you might just need to look really hard.
Maybe start small and start making a list of what good / happy things you saw a day - start with one and eventually you can find more. (There were days when I struggled putting down anything.)

  • Maybe you have a different trigger.
How about thinking about… Getting a 3d printer part, getting some new tool from a hardware store, getting a new game, trying a new table game, getting a new book, getting new equipment for … Sports / computing / gaming?
Edit: some more: getting new make up, trying a new sport or hobby, thinking of upcoming projects for yourself, hone decoration, gardening, getting a new kitchen gadget, looking for a new sourdough/beer/wine/cocktail recipe…
