Luckily the issue of “cars park too long in spaces” is a solved problem.

Meters, meter monitors, timed parking in general has been around for a long time.

Tow the cars parking beyond the limit, and that becomes a non-issue. No idea what the maximum charge time is on compatible EVs but just put it a little longer than that, and nobody has a reason (beyond the normal things that affect all drivers in timed spaces) to stay there beyond the charging time.

I only learned about hostilities between the two countries after about 28-30 years on the planet (thanks, US edumacation system) and I still don’t think I understand why they don’t get along…

I tested this with my Facebook app in 2013. Found a Spanish radio station, set my phone down next to it overnight, and for several weeks I was seeing ads exclusively in Spanish. Deleted the app the first day I saw them in Spanish, and deleted my account not long after that.

My wife still uses them after 5 years together and me pointing out all the times it’s obviously eavesdropping on us, and she’s even been creeped out by it before. Still uses it…

Unless my microphone and camera have physical switches, I will assume they are being used. Those little “your camera and microphone are off” icons in the corner of the screen don’t reassure me.

You DO need both at first, but he’s absolutely right that ONLY providing food and nothing else isn’t helpful in the long term.

If you can’t grow your own food, then just getting enough to survive handed to you just gives you enough to survive until tomorrow.

Independence requires self-sufficiency, anything less helpful than that is public relations.

Every time something major breaks and it seems like everyone involved is extremely incompetent, this is what I assume.

They knew exactly what they were doing. It was intentional from start to finish. They just don’t want to admit that, because then they would have to admit the real reason, and that thought terrifies them.

Not trans (I think, arguments for closeted gender fluid could be made I suppose but that’s a different conversation I don’t think I’m ready to have) but if I were trans that’s exactly how I would feel. That a person who has been able to transition is, albeit indirectly, calling me a piece of shit loser who needs to die in order to be happy.

I’m glad OOP is happy and at least on the surface is confident, but the post just made me feel weird.

The sentiment of “oh no I’m watching someone die/mourning the death of my friend/son/daughter/cousin/whatever” can get fucked though. I guess you could see it as losing someone, but guess what, you didn’t lose anyone. The person is still the person, they might act outwardly more in line with how they feel, but they are still around. Instead of lamenting the loss of a son, celebrate the arrival of your daughter. Your cousin might look and sound different, but they still enjoy talking shit about video game companies and politicians. The woman standing at the mechanic desk is still perfectly knowledgeable about everything they were before.

Just because you weren’t aware of your daughter before she came out, doesn’t make her any less valid being here now. If you can’t handle that, well pour out your crocodile tears and have your narcissistic fit of “woe is me I have experienced such loss” I guess

I interviewed, accepted the job offer at the end, showed up for my first scheduled shift and found out my manager wasn’t the polite manager I interviewed with.

For the record, I was supposed to start at 9am. It was 8:45 when I walked in.

Manager, literally yelling from about 300ft away: YOU’RE LATE!

Me, confused: I’m 15 minutes early?

Manager: I EXPECT YOU TO BE HERE HALF A HOUR BEFORE EVERY SHIFT, IF YOU’RE LATE AGAIN YOU’RE ON THIN FUCKING ICE

And I turned my happy ass around and walked out.

I don’t care if it was some bullshit tactic to “weed out” people, that is completely unacceptable behavior and in my younger years I have gotten into fist fights over someone speaking to another like that.

I had another job inside a week.

I don’t care if they had someone to fill my spot the next day. It wasn’t worth the time.
