Tell that to French old ladies. I’ve had the pleasure of waiting in line at the supermarket check out while Granny in front writes a cheque for her groceries, far more recently than you’d expect!

aka the right- hand thumb rule for vectors of angular motion
Bottle-o!
I’m not sure how you spell it, actually.
There’s a huge variance around this though. Size of cup, amount of ground coffee used, variety of coffee (robusta has much higher caffeine than arabica), how roasted it is… It might be around 150 mg per cup, but could easily be nearly half or nearly double that.
Bloody small cylinders, always getting stuck in things!

21·12 days agoI don’t know all the details of vertical farming, but there is more to it than energy efficiency. The controlled environment is supposed to remove the need for pesticides, bring fertiliser use right down to the minimum possible, and then there’s the efficiency in logistics of growing food closer to point of consumption, especially when temperature/humidity/ light control lets you grow exotic stuff locally year round.
Whether it is worth it overall is unclear. Probably the answer is “sometimes, it depends on the situation”.
Or “if you think the reason for the result is not correct” could cover it.

So cool that this website selling private islands doesn’t have a standard way of writing decimal points.

memes@lemmy.world•Lazy dullards dependent on AI ask questions like this:
13·30 days agoYeah we used to imagine a future where all the household tasks were done by robots, and we humans busied ourselves with intellectual work (e.g. The Jetsons).
But as it turns out, generating text and computer files is relatively easy for machines, but physical robotics in uncontrolled dynamic environments is a tough problem.
What lazy? With autocorrect it actually takes loads of effort to get rid of capitalisation.
I’m not commenting on the content of the person’s comments, but in terms of writing style I’ve always shared this person’s aversion to capitalisation letters in (my own) casual communications. I don’t know why, it’s weird. Especially “I” as a personal pronoun. Who tf do I think I am? “i” will suffice for ones modest self.
All right then, keep your secrets.

Is that done in some environments? I think Maxima gives answers as fractions by default, but didn’t know how that worked. And my Casio calculator can stick to fractions and surds up to a point, but I think it’s just using float under the surface and converting back ok until too much rounding error creeps in…
I don’t have evidence to back this up, but I don’t think the sun looks that dull to the naked eye from Mars, I think these images were made carefully to show the shape of the moon clearly (with filters etc). If humans evolved on Mars we probably would never have even noticed eclipses were happening unless we eventually used technology to look closely at the sun.
Did they take the half nearest the tip? Or was it a left/right split? Or top/bottom?
I think my fav option would be top, then you can just pull the hood over when you’re not using it. Although I can see an issue with it catching on things, and concentrations of stress at the corner of the join 😬
Oh yeah I got my inches wrong 🤦♂️
3.5" floppy (left). Those badboys actually were floppy. Not sure about the other.
Yeah. Babies need cuddles 😢 Maybe some questions are not suitable for empirical study.
Because of the extreme bendiness of a flaccid penis, and the highly dynamic forces at play in the crotch area during everyday activities like walking, sitting, lying in bed, transitioning between positions, and wearing clothes, people sometimes end up with a pube caught inside their foreskin.

Even without any particular care needs or neuro-differences, a lot of kids can sometimes be a danger to themselves when out in public. Our public spaces are not designed to mitigate this, and it tends to happen at a stage when their ability to understand and obey verbal instructions is low (or at least slow), and physically controlling them is extremely unergonomic for the adult (too heavy to constantly pick up, too short to constantly hold their hands).
