  • Even without any particular care needs or neuro-differences, a lot of kids can sometimes be a danger to themselves when out in public. Our public spaces are not designed to mitigate this, and it tends to happen at a stage when their ability to understand and obey verbal instructions is low (or at least slow), and physically controlling them is extremely unergonomic for the adult (too heavy to constantly pick up, too short to constantly hold their hands).

  • I don’t know all the details of vertical farming, but there is more to it than energy efficiency. The controlled environment is supposed to remove the need for pesticides, bring fertiliser use right down to the minimum possible, and then there’s the efficiency in logistics of growing food closer to point of consumption, especially when temperature/humidity/ light control lets you grow exotic stuff locally year round.

Whether it is worth it overall is unclear. Probably the answer is “sometimes, it depends on the situation”.

What lazy? With autocorrect it actually takes loads of effort to get rid of capitalisation.

I’m not commenting on the content of the person’s comments, but in terms of writing style I’ve always shared this person’s aversion to capitalisation letters in (my own) casual communications. I don’t know why, it’s weird. Especially “I” as a personal pronoun. Who tf do I think I am? “i” will suffice for ones modest self.

Is that done in some environments? I think Maxima gives answers as fractions by default, but didn’t know how that worked. And my Casio calculator can stick to fractions and surds up to a point, but I think it’s just using float under the surface and converting back ok until too much rounding error creeps in…

I don’t have evidence to back this up, but I don’t think the sun looks that dull to the naked eye from Mars, I think these images were made carefully to show the shape of the moon clearly (with filters etc). If humans evolved on Mars we probably would never have even noticed eclipses were happening unless we eventually used technology to look closely at the sun.
