True, but we don’t have that society, yet we do have the ability to automate a lot of people out of a job.

We could automate those jobs, yes, but then a lot of people would have no jobs at all.

My opinion stands, however. They want knives, let them have knives.

11·11 hours ago“Corruption” that entertains junior enlisted should be viewed with a much less harsh eye than, for example, corruption that enriches senior officers, or contractors, or elected officials.
It’s not a good thing, but it’s not exactly what I’d call “important.” Plus, I’d be willing to bet it’s an artefact of the stupid budgeting system we use.
Motivation, mostly. I have half a dozen abandoned projects in writing, model building, miniature painting, electronics, programming.
I’m a man of many talents, and limited attention span.
That’s why I specified lady minotaur. I know what I’m about.
Male minotaur need not apply.
If they switched that up for a timid young farm boy and a lady minotaur with huge . . . tracts of land that need caring for, I’d read it. Wouldn’t even need to change the title.

3·1 day agoIIRC, the reason was absolute equality by way of absolute anonymity. You can’t tell what species or gender your fellows are, so it’s not possible to discriminate against them. If any race, for example, required a chilling apparatus, then all suits would have one, although only activated if required.
Or something like that.

2·1 day agoI would have liked Braca to have one or two more episodes as a scoundrel before becoming a villain. Dukat, with a bird of prey, as it were.
But yes, it was gloriously done.

No, it shuffles on, a decaying zombie shell of it’s former theoretical glory.
Still, you put it well. I’m impressed with your literary talent. Tell me, have you ever considered writing a Hungarian phrase book?
