  • But could there have been a slower spreading variant first, circulating in stealth mode in the world? I fully believe that Western neoliberal healthcare could have missed these if they were singular unexplained pneunomia looking things in the elderly or anyone, we just treat symptoms if people aren’t dying.

Maybe whatever got introduced to China was already a variant that was able to take off better? Tourism could have a role here that nobody would want to look into as that too is important to the economy.

I know that the og variant got completely eradicated from my country and the following one was introduced by a single group of petty bourge alpine skiiers that travelled to Austria. It took months for the new variant to take off here, but it was traced back to those tourists.

Afaik even cats can get it. Stray cats are common in touristy places like the mediterranean cities. Who knows honestly, but the white paper does claim it wasn’t found in wildlife around Wuhan.

  • Well this. We know now that it thrives on fur farms for example. What if it originated in those, plenty of such farms in the “West”. In Finland for example the conditions are notoriously bad and there is no oversight.

I remember when it finally got aknowledged that white-tail deer are a coronavirus reservoir. Our local food and safety department announced that there is no need to test anything because there is no risk for spillover and covid-19 isn’t foodborne. They just stated that. So the motivation to test, track and understand just isn’t there in capitalist states.

The bird flu also thrives on fur farms and the “solution” this country chose was to allow the fur farmers to shoot the birds, even rare birds, around the farms to protect their industrialized animal cruelty business.

Huge malpractice, cruelty and overproduction issues were also revealed in local salmon farming. Dead birds in the tanks, the fish are suffocating and sick.

I don’t necessarily think the lab leak is likely, but I definitely think it could have started somewhere else than China and been imported there. Due to the general lack of oversight, lack of systems to notice a novel pathogen and just neoliberal capitalism being the way it is.

The Chinese hypothesis seems to still be that frozen food was the source.

  • Happy May Day comrades! cat-com

Some May Day reporting from Finland. The local reactionary nazis held a gathering in the city of Tampere today. Their gathering was fully protected by the cops who violently arrested 15 counter-protesters and used a growd control rifle on them.

The local bougie newspaper report about this here, you can see some of the nazis protected by the cops. They’ve essentially built a little pen for the fash and during their pathetic unjoyous little march they protected them from all sides.

    The national news piece here.

A short video about the cops shooting a counter-protester who is throwing back a torch the fash threw in the crowd. This video will expire in two days.

The counter-protesters threw eggs and torches toward the fash and in general tried to make their cop protected little march fail.

This picture of one of the counter-protesters goes extremely hard:

  • Vindicated. I definitely had it autumn 2019. Almost died on that hill and got longcovid. All the covid symptoms that came out later were like lightbulb moments for me. Every single one.

So I’ve thought about this a alot. The reason it was “the vaping illness” or whatever everywhere in the West is that neoliberal “efficient” healthcare only ever treats symptoms. And it does that in a very atomized way.

Since the western brainpan has categorised all things to separate units with borders, like the human body and related medical fields, it makes it so that nobody ever looks at a patient as a whole. The general practitioner kind of should, but they have no time, no allowance to test anything and are told to treat symptoms and refer to one of these units if absolutely necessary. Mostly they treat symptoms and send you home.

So you go in with your flu or GI symptoms first, they treat the symptoms, but never test for anything, because testing costs money.

Then you go back two weeks later with fatigue, heart palpitations and a different doctor treats those symptoms, not looking two weeks back to the flu symptoms.

In the middle of all this, you visit the ER once for something related like chest pain. They treat the symptoms, but don’t tie it back to anything either.

Repeat this until you are in there hospitalized for what looks like acute renal failure/pneumonia or whatever covid can do and get told “it has no explanation” and still isn’t related to anything prior, even though you know it is a result of the same illness you have been having for three months.

This is a system feature. Doctors are not insentivized to test, just to treat symptoms. If it looks mostly like the cold/flu and the afterplay is missed, nobody is going to look for a novel pathogen. And when it does get too big to ignore, start talking about a vaping illness and call it good. Afaik none of those cases were tested for anything other than the most basic stuff.
