  • That’s just how electronics recycling is, though. The amount of labor it would take to save all those SMT and BGA components is ridiculous and, honestly, is a pretty specialized skill even if it is easy to learn. The logistics of scale really makes it unreasonable, especially when simpler components can be had for literal pennies. There’s a point where the material cost of the copper is worth more than the labor it takes to do anything else with the board, and it happens a lot sooner than you think.

  • Um, duh? Does anyone understand how long it takes to build manufacturing equipment or the buildings meant to house it all? Or if that equipment can even reasonably be manufactured itself? Or if there are even enough people to do the work? Or if enough of those people are educated well enough to do the work? Or if there’s money anywhere to make any of that possible at all never mind within a reasonable timeframe?

I dunno but they’re all over Austin. I go out of my way to slow down when they do this, and inevitably they stay behind me instead of moving over. When they finally do move over, I speed up to whatever I was going before while keeping a safe distance between me and the car in front of me. Without fail they get slowed down by traffic in the lane they just moved into.
