What kind of genres do you read? If you dig speculative fiction I’m happy to share recommendations and am happy to talk books. It’s not much, but just nerding out about stuff somtimes helps.

Well, the only legal thing we can do is vote. The other options shouldn’t be discussed online.
Yup. This is the election they’ve been training to lose for decades.
I’m still gonna go vote though. And try to get others to vote too.
When they bailed on Brian Johnson and picked him up, I stopped listening to ac/dc altogether.

Like, in the world we live in, you truly think all the laws that get broken on a regular basis, people just wouldn’t run a red? This is so naive it’s adorable.
Zagam@piefed.socialto Videos@lemmy.world•The 11foot8 bridge opens another big canEnglish11·5 days agoMe? Average. Maybe a little better than average. I’ve never been the driver in an accident. I’ve been pulled over twice. Once for a headlight out and once for doing 52 in a 45 (I suspect the bigger crime was it not being a local on a road where the people that lived there routinely drive 60+), and my insurance usually goes down about every year or two.
But I’ve made a few mistakes, mistimed some lights, and forgotten to use my turn signal. But id say on the whole, I’m not too bad.

Anything by guns and roses. I’ve turned off other people’s radios at work when they come on. It’s almost started fights but that shit can fuck right off. I can deal with anything else but there’s so etbihg about gnr that gets up my nose.
I wonder how it would have gone if he stopped for the red.

I like that it’s small and that most people are kind.
I dislike that when there’s a wave of reddit refugees it gets kind of gross for a bit till they either calm down or leave. Also, beans and moths. But I’m not going to say if I like or dislike them, or one over the other.
If they don’t get the references, they’re just casuals.
Connections 1 and 2. Maybe not 3.

Depends on the boss. I had a guy I worked for and we’d hang out off work. We’d go to lunch, some days go on hikes during lunch, and went camping a couple of times. He was really laid back, didn’t care about my hours as long as I got my work done, and we built him a ramp in his backyard. More than once, he’d give me a bonus, send me to the pizza place for lunch, then tell me there was credit for me at the local tattoo shop. We still talk about every week or two. Good dude all around.
My current boss is cool, fine to work for, doesn’t care about my hours as long as I get my work done, and we joke and play around. But I’d never hang out with him. Just too different a life style.
Past boss, no way. I didn’t want him having my personal mobile phone number. You need to call me? You call me on the work cell. I come in, I do work. You tell me what you need done, you give me money. Not a bad guy, but that was just work.
Nono. Burner kids are ones you get when like you have a family thing and need to look like you have a family and your shit together. You get some burner kids and they pretend you’re their parent for a night or whatever. Then when you’re done with them, you just give them a few bucks, maybe a snickers and drop them off behind a 7-11.
I’m not super versed in thriller but my friends have me dipping my feet into horror.
Sister, Maiden, Monster by Lucy A Snider was a favorite last year. Creepy, timely, and let’s say visceral.
I’m in the first 3rd of Perdido Street Station now from China Mieville. He’s credited with helping start the New Weird. Not horror as such but it’s marvelous.
And Light From Uncommon Stars by Ryka Aoki was just a rad read. It’s roughly about donughts, violins, and selling souls.
