True, but how stable has the actual government been through that time? Cities almost universally live through many governments throughout their existence.

This goes for nations, one clue here is they used to be called kingdoms with a very different form of government from many nations today.

Also if you do some research on this you find that the United States has one of the longest running constitutional democracies in the world.

So while 161 years might not seem like much in the arc of history, as far as democracy goes it’s nothing to sneeze at.

FWIW America managed to cobble together an America that lasted 161 years after the first civil war.

That’s not that bad honestly, so, it could be done again…

It’s going to get worse for sure, but in the US I expect this to have an upper bound of pain given how much oil we produce domestically. That doesn’t make us immune, but it should give some limits to the pain.

Not that I think this is ok or anything, just gives me some small hope that the bread lines might take longer to get to.

I’ve seen a lot of violence posts coming from non us users. It seems there’s some kind of effort to incite the us into violence going on and I don’t like it one bit.

I feel this. I stopped using almost all social media except pie fed (if you can call pie fed social media). This makes me part of the disappearing voices elsewhere, I used to be pretty active elsewhere.

I’m glad the dog shooter is out.

I’m not glad that they are sacrificing her on the altar of distraction.

As much as she deserves pretty much everything coming her way, I don’t want this to cause us all to forget the real root of the rot.

I know I feel less safe knowing the a lot of arsenal is spent.

It’s not weird, mainstream media is owned by the oligarchs and they want this crap.

Independent media however is having a foundational moment and it’s helping me get through this.

How long before the reporting of jobs numbers becomes illegal by EO and then there’s just vague statements of the economy is doing great, it’s gone up by billinty blollars just this past month! You’re not suffering, you’re efficiency maxing!

Guess what? Americans are doing what they can and should at the moment.

There are protests, strikes, election defense programs, community organization, signal mobilization, and more.

It’s not being reported by the media because it’s all propaganda. Democracy needs to do its thing unfortunately and that takes time.

There’s a LOT that needs to be done and tried before it turns into something more dramatic. We need to have mid term elections, need to see them be fair, and then let the democratic accountability take hold.

If that fails, then there’s more. But that has to fail, and people need to stop saying it will fail before it does. We don’t need more agitation, it sucks here right now, but the tide is turning at the pace of democracy. If you want something faster you’re asking for fascism to replace fascism and nobody should want that.
