Love how she doesn’t realize the sudden cheers aren’t for AI and instead are cheers for the “pre-AI bubble” era.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Steam Controller sells out within 30 minutes in some regions as scalpers start listing them for up to three times the priceEnglish
7·9 days agoI managed to get one but I also checked resale sites in my area and was happily surprised to see that there’s yet to be a single one up for resale by a scalper.
That being said, I did see someone trying to resale the OG Steam Controller for $250 which is hilarious considering all the other listings for it are between $30-100.
I generally agree but it really depends what work the vehicle is used for. In my line of work, regulations require us to have a fully separated cab from where the gear and load are kept so we’re basically forced to use pickups.
That being said, only on-call team leads bring the trucks home and we’re not allowed to use the trucks for personal use so they’re basically only at our shop/base or at a worksite.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•After a week testing Valve's new Steam Controller, it's better in almost every way - but still a bit of a niche proposition
2·16 days agoSure but even in that context, where I live an Xbox controller costs between ~$80 to just over a hundred depending on the design. The Elite controller is ~$200 (or currently on sale for $150).
So with that context, the $150 price point of the Steam Controller is really not that high, especially when you consider the hall effect joysticks, trackpads, gyro, and Valve’s really strong track record of supporting their hardware post-launch.
Note: all prices are in Canadian dollars

Canada@lemmy.ca•He thought he followed all the rules. Then border guards arrested him on the street
14·2 months agoThat’s a bit disingenuous. I’m not absolving our agencies of the responsibility to work on increasing the safety of those held in detention but 17 deaths over 26 years is not equivalent to what’s happening in the US where 23 people have died in ICE detention since October 2025 (source).

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•The "video game preservation service" Myrient is shutting down in MarchEnglish
1·2 months agoI saw that there’s a community effort to save the entire archive and they were nearly done (or at least are on track to be done before the shutdown occurs). That being said, I haven’t been following this super closely so I might be getting the details wrong.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Doom: The Dark Ages DLC is "freaking huge," says director: "It's basically like a sequel"English
1·2 months agoObviously a very different kind of game but the Factorio Space Age DLC more than doubled my play time in the game and imo is one of the best DLC value-wise that I’ve ever purchased.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•PC gamers win the first battle against Valve Corporation as £656m competition claim receives judicial approvalEnglish
1·2 months agoAlternatively, one can argue that the 30% cut has allowed Valve to develop a product which is superior to the competition and that’s why gamers often choose to buy their games there instead of other platforms. When Steam first became available, it was pretty terrible and there’s plenty of historical articles that clearly highlight that fact. Now, over the years, Valve has reinvested a share of their profits to improve the platform to a point where it is arguably the best product on the market. The 30% fee isn’t “anti competitive”, if it were, there wouldn’t be so many other options around. Punishing valve for having a superior product is just absurd.

1·3 months agoI mean sure but there’s only an extra office in Ontario because the national capital is in Ontario. If Ottawa wasn’t the capital, I bet there wouldn’t be an office there.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Assetto Corsa EVO: Kunos Axes Economy-based Career In Favor Of "Simpler Structure"English
3·3 months agoThe initial plan was for an open-world with progression tied to an actual in-game economy. Then they made most of the progression systems optional (a good thing), but now that’s gone and there’s no details on what the point of the open-world will be if there’s no profession. We also have no real indication of whether or not this open world will even actually happen.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Assetto Corsa EVO: Kunos Axes Economy-based Career In Favor Of "Simpler Structure"English
3·3 months agoI’m pretty disappointed to hear that. IMO the career mode was the reason EVO seemed like an interesting title. Without it, I struggle to see why someone who prefers solo/offline play would buy it over the original AC.

I was on the fence for a while but I’ve been extremely happy with it and have only run into minimal issues (and significantly less than with my smart tv before).

2·4 months agoI know this isn’t what they’re doing at all, but I like to think they’re actually referring to the first amendment of our constitution. I find it comical to think they’re that passionate about either the establishment of Manitoba (technically the first amendment) or strengthening Indigenous peoples’ rights (first amendment after 1982 when we achieved full sovereignty).

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•As a Nurse who works nation wide I have seen the effects of narcan on heroin, meth, acid and such. But what would happen to a person who is really really high on weed?
4·5 months agoYou are 100% correct. I find it highly probable that OP is simply lying about being a nurse.
In my experience, none of the medical professionals I’ve worked with would turn to public forums to find an answer to a question like this. Even if it’s related to a different specialty/area of medicine than they usually practice.

Unfortunately that would also skew the results quite a bit. We’d end up only having actual data on the types of people who volunteer for the long form.
I say this as someone who would gladly do the long form every time (only gotten that lucky once so far but it was a lovely experience).
