There’s been a pivot away from “classic” speedruns games over the last few years - I get that Doom or Sonic 2 or Goldeneye or other 90s games aren’t guaranteed a place every year, but it seems like the games that kicked off the speedrun scene are often overlooked these days.
I definitely always want 80s/90s games in GDQ lol, but I’m old so what do I know, I can still enjoy newer games sometimes
they started the Youtube playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLz8YL4HVC87UOYTcO8Bo_6YlBwLXOJ7Zc
Like the 2016 Doom onwards, the runs are technically outstanding, but there’s a lot of walking on invisible geometry with collision detection, or random tricks like railboosting in Doom that seems to break a game.
but the glitchless/etc runs of those Doom games on high difficulty are amazing, Doom Eternal is so fast it’s basically a single-player e-sport
Any runs you’re looking forward to?
Castlevania games, Resident Evil games, Titanfall 2, Doom Dark Ages, Halo Reach (4 player co-op!), Mario Maker relay race, Mario 3, and of course the Silly Games block
But usually my favorite runs are the ones I don’t expect
you forgot to share the link, I’m guessing it’s this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Or3IF5Fr1U
Vulkan devices that lack the required feature support to run DXVK will no longer be listed as DXGI / D3D9 adapters. This may fix crashes in case an outdated graphics driver or an unsupported integrated GPU are present on the system.
This sounds good, I think laptop users sometimes ran into this issue in Deus Ex Randomizer, since we pack in DXVK for Windows users (we check if they have Vulkan support first) to improve compatibility and performance. It’s also a good way to automatically set a frame rate limit for the game, because our installer automatically creates the dxvk.conf file.
DXVK has been really amazing for Deus Ex on Windows (and obviously Linux too)
old style forums. (I’m hoping those eventually join the Fediverse. But even if they don’t, they still have a place in my heart.)

Gee, I wonder why I grew up loving !idm@lemmy.zip lol
The name change definitely confused some people, but keep at it!
oh I guess that’s only confusing for Lemmy users since Lemmy has a different sorting method that is called “Active” lol
I believe Lemmy has rate limits for requests by default, so it’s not as easy to brute force a password as you suggest. But something like this is always a good feature for additional security.
I think forcing the user to reset their password because someone is trying to guess their password probably doesn’t make sense unless they got it right. It would be annoying if a troll did this to your account.
Yes, but also additional security is good too. And you know it’s impossible to convince everyone to use 2FA, unfortunately.
I agree that we need fewer posts and more comments.
Sorting your feed by “New Comments” can help, but PieFed doesn’t have that feature, I love using it on Lemmy. It also makes me realize that for comment sorting, it might be good to be able to sort by “Most Replies” or “New Replies”.
will definately check out mbin too
It makes me mad how many people refused to leave Twitter, or even just diversify to posting on other platforms, even if they’re supposed to be left leaning politically…
GamesDoneQuick for example, they always say “trans rights” and yet their only social media account was on Twitter, until they joined Bluesky just 5 months ago and they still post on both. I don’t get it. They could’ve made a Bluesky or Mastodon account years ago, even if they keep posting to Twitter just mirror your posts!
Do it! You’ll probably find like-minded users. Don’t forget PixelFed and Loops too.
Although maybe you could just contribute to Mbin or fork it, cause I feel like it already does all of this?
there’s a plugin for it
