Incompetence is definitely a factor but not nearly as bad as the corruption coming from the top. When you have billionaires lavishing the president with money and gifts in exchange for favors how can that be anything but corruption.

Boomers got pensions, then killed them off and barely paid anything into social security while sucking it dry. They get to double/triple dip into retirement with pensions, SS and 401k as a cherry on top. Younger gens basically fund that while the SS collection age keeps getting higher. So we are saddled with 401ks because that means our future is tied to the market creating a financial incentive not to push back to hard on the system.

I’m kinda in between. First time I make something I follow the recipe pretty rigidly. If its something I liked and make it again I’ll tweak it or wing it from memory and be close enough that it becomes the new method.

Pretty sure lots of old games still look great. Why else would there be modern pixel art games still coming out? The graphics of yore may not have been advanced but they had an art style which is more important than graphics and more than most modern AAA games.

Ummmm 4k is way less important at couch distance compared to desk distance. Most of us don’t have TVs that occupy the same field of view from the couch as a monitor does at the desk. For example I have a 32 inch monitor at my desk 1.5 feet away and a 65 inch TV about 10 feet away. Sure the TV has 4x the viewing area but my viewing distance is more than 4x so the picture is not as crisp.

I’m not a skilled coder but sometimes need/want to get things done. So I’ll try my best get something that doesn’t quite work right then ask it to tell me what’s wrong and fix it. Once it works I ask it to explain the issue further. Its helped me learn.

I code at a kindergarten level so its been useful for me when I’m trying to get an idea to just work. I tell it what I was trying to do and give it my code and then I ask it to fix then explain what went wrong. Works pretty well in qwen 3.8 27b on my GPU in zed. But I’m not making huge apps or public code just dumb scripts for me. So ive found ive actually gotten better this past year. Its all in how you use it.

Running a local llm in obsidian is actually pretty useful but I’m not asking it to do much. Just search my human notes and find/summarize them. Is it a useful tool yes, would I let a cloud provider touch my notes absolutely not.

Yup thats how they do it. I went to a liberal arts college like that in the mid 2000s. 20k scholarship out of 30k tuition/boarding. Next year it was up to 35k. Year after would have been 40k, schalorship did not increase. Transferred to state school no scholarship but it kept my out of pocket about 12k.
