I am 48 and Trump has been a public figure since i was a child. He was, however, mostly regarded as a punchline! We already used to joke about his incompetence in the 90s. I remember seeing a political cartoon as a child involving Trump and a panhandler - the punch line was that the panhandler had significantly more money (it was during one of his bankruptcies). When I heard Trump was running for president I thought it was a joke candidacy. Who could be his running mate - wily coyote?

When the people elect a criminal to do criminal things, the press has no responsibility to catalogue his crimes. Trump’s crimes aren’t news - they are his public record as president. This article makes it sound like we have a traditional stock market where people buy shares in companies they expect to make a profit. In fact, this is a speculation market, where people buy shares in companies they expect to become more valuable on the speculation market. Everyone is just trying to outguess the herd - they tell themselves, “if I time MY sale right, I can get out before the crash.” The whole thing is a game of chicken.
