i always refer people to this documentary.

at least the swish system is set up as a collaboration between banks. it’s not its own entity. assuming most of the others work this way too, since transferring between banks takes so long.

the difference is that telegram is a chat application rather than a public space. i’ve been on telegram for 10 years at this point and i’ve never gotten so much as an invite from people i don’t know. the owner is iffy so my friend group is trying to migrate away but none of us have ever seen the things telegram is famous for. i’m not even sure i know how to get shit like that to show up. on twitter it’s in your face as soon on you log in.

Solid should have a bigger role in this article than just a mention. it’s literally the standard, it was the standard before atproto, and they just chose to build something else.

i’ve always took dissociation to mean a form of involuntary perspective shift where you no longer identify as yourself and you stop seeing meaning in the things around you, just looking at shapes. sort of a disconnect from the real world.

i think it should. i’m running it on an amd laptop but one of the first things it did after installation was pop up a window that said “your system requires some drivers, we have installed them and they will be available next boot” and that made the camera, fingerprint reader and multitouch just start working.

i’ve not tried it but apparently gaming “just works” after installing the steam flatpak.

currently daily-driving their Aeon flavour. it may be the best Linux-for-beginners i’ve ever seen. the installer has no options at all and just overwrites the disk with a preloaded partition which means installation takes literally five minutes. it’s auto-updating, immutable, snapshots itself so it can roll back when something breaks, and basically only allows Flatpaks. on first boot you get an empty desktop with browser, app store, notes app, and calculator, and those are literally the only user applications on the machine. very refreshing.
