Deutschland hat eine direkte militärische Unterstützung der Amerikaner im zweiten Golfkrieg verweigert, weil das innenpolitisch nicht vermittelbar gewesen wäre.
Um trotzdem Solidarität mit den USA zu demonstrieren, wurde im Jahr 1991 kurzerhand Fasching abgesagt. Man wollte nicht, dass die Deutschen ausgelassen feiern, während die Amerikanischen Verbündeten kämpfen.
Dadurch sind die Firmen, die Verkleidungen und Deko für Fasching produzieren, auf ihrem kompletten Bestand sitzengeblieben.
Da kam dann die geniale Idee auf, stattdessen in dem Jahr nach US-Vorbild Halloween zu feiern.

Ich glaube in einem richtigen Winter würde ich einfach gar nicht mehr zur Arbeit kommen. Radwege werden ja nicht geräumt oder gestreut. Es gibt buchstäblich keine Straßenverbindung, die nicht über eine Landstraße mit Tempolimit 100 führt, was mit dem Fahrrad morgens bei Dunkelheit und Glätte Selbstmord wäre.
Und die verbliebene Alternative wäre die Bahn, die dieses Jahr schon bei 20 Grad und Sonnenschein ohne Übertreibung an jedem einzelnen Tag Probleme hatte.
