The GoodKarmaToolkit in particular is an extra project that is managed by ArchiveBox, but the listed services aren’t made by them. I’m not as familiar with ArchiveBox itself, and it looks like there’s an open issue about AI stuff: https://github.com/ArchiveBox/ArchiveBox/issues/1139

I asked two separate friends in the medical field for what they thought of the show, and both of them started with saying that the character is annoying 😄

I think that’s the goal, since there ARE people like that in the field that are difficult to work with. It also gives her room to grow and be ‘humbled’ through the course of the show.

I’ve always heard of snapchat being the worst of them all, so maybe it depends on what kind of content you follow?

I with the Pixelfed creator would just focus on Pixelfed, I use that and it’s a total win, just needs some kinks worked out and more popularity.

Now that they have some funding and are building up a small team, it might let them focus on a few things at once. I agree though that it won’t replace Tiktok. At this point, doomscrolling is a psychological addiction that takes effort to move away from.

The key is that you need to subscribe to the type of content you want to see. There’s no company here deciding what your feed is going to be.

I can also see some people being opposed to them spending the donation money on ads, since they’d be giving money to companies that may be in opposition to what we’re doing here (or ideological reasons around the advertising industry in general).

Maybe if there was a separate pool of donations specifically for advertising, then people who want to support that can donate to it? Those who don’t can still donate to the projects themselves

This v1 list was started by the ArchiveBox project, but it’s open to contributions.

I imagine it’s because that is the source that the person saw the article on and/or they don’t notice the issue because of adblock/pi-hole.

I’ve done that a few times where I link a site that’s broken without adblockers, or it has a paywall that only shows up part of the time.

Gentle reminders help! It might be cool to have a bot that checks a resource like ground news and links to the same article on a few alternate sources

What I hate to see, even in this thread, is people turning on each other in this “us vs. them”, “you’re either a part of the pact or you’re against us” nonsense

Let’s all remember why WE ALL CHOSE to get on the fediverse and build it. The strength of the fediverse comes from the freedom for each instance to choose how to run things. My understanding is that no one in an instance is harmed if some other instance chooses to federate or defederate from Threads.

I hate Meta. I also know that Meta doesn’t need to do anything to take down the fediverse if we do it ourselves.

At this point we just need a large compiled list of every instance of it. There’s so much that I can’t think of an example right away.
