no ads for me as I’ve said

Yeah but since they have a shitload of users already they can push whatever they want thru gemini and face zero repercussions

the most dog shit AI.
For you. I bet it’s useful for their cash flow, not accounting the dev cost.

I never liked it, and google tricks have been broken for a while. My browser came with startpage by default, seems alright for now. Thankfully I don’t need a search engine that often

i don’t think mine was nasal at all

I think my record is about the same, about 2 or 3 days. Makes for a cool voice afterwards.

Same. Mine need to be told not to steal food or do other tomfoolery.
That and reciting lyrics of random songs that get stuck in my head every minute or so.

On the other hand it’s way easier to be invisible, and get lost in the crowd in big cities

Antarctica must be fucking packed yo

I see it as a balancing act. A solo project like this either gets worked on continuously, which costs money, or it’s maintained on enthusiasm alone which means the updates aren’t guaranteed.
Going open source and pushing that task onto the community works too, but again that doesn’t guarantee continued development.
Evidently this dev doesn’t want to do that for reasons I’m not familiar with, but you can ask them directly, they’re the mod here.

bc my adblocker works (making it effectively free) and the ux is nice
edit: expanding on it, so far it’s not broken and i generally keep things that aren’t broken

Voyager’s cheapest support tier (out of 3) = Boost’s ad removal option. I think that compensates for the lack of ads but it’s also riskier for them, I’m surprised there isn’t a subscription-based client tbh.

Considering boost’s ad removal has been a one-time purchase for as long as I can remember, I don’t think the dev wants a subscription service attached to it.

On the other hand, keep the production in-house, and spend millions on bolts because of widespread corruption lobbying. To be fair, I think their other production facilities (Italy and Japan) aren’t much cheaper, so part of the cost is justified.
That’s unfair, diesels can run on fuel more stale than (i was gonna make a presidential diaper joke but my fingers already feel gross typing that)
