I read somewhere a long time ago that males are evolutionarily designed to react aggressive at the sound of crying as a defense from predators or something hurting a member of our tribe, whereas females are more likely to rush to apply aid to support injury or feed a hungry child. I’m not sure if that’s true or some man-o-sphere bullshit I heard/read, but it might have some scientific grounding. I became a father in Dec. 2019. I still struggle to emotionally support my own 5.5yo child when he’s really upset. It tends to make me upset, almost angry, and I find myself wanting to yell at him to stop!

It’s taken years of therapy to get comfortable with these emotions when I feel them, yet alone to get to a point where I can support him when he does. However, developing emotional awareness over the last decade means my son will not have to grow up hearing, I’ll give you something to cry about, like I did. Now, I’m able to identify when he is just pissed I won’t give him candy for breakfast and when he is emotionally overwhelmed and needs more emotional support.

Man, from the environment, to social safety nets, to us adult children and our emotional awareness, the boomer and gen-x parents have really fucked us all!

As a vet, tRump doing this pissed me off almost as much as anything else he did in his first term. Some of the most ardent service(wo)men I served with were part of this program around 2006-ish. Many of them stayed in past their required terms (which I think had to be 8-years if I’m not mistaken), unlike myself and others looking to get through college debt-free.

If you’re willing to put your life on the line for a country you aren’t currently a citizen of, you deserve to be a citizen of that country on the other side of that service.

There’s no guarantee anything is “secure,” anymore. Even if you run a self-hosted password manager, it could still be compromised at the package-level or down the road through some exploit. I will say that since I started using Bitwarden as my main password manager, I have had to worry less about company data breaches and stolen passwords. I have no need to reuse passwords for any site or service. I can use the built-in 2FA with sites that require it and don’t have to have multiple apps. I can share passwords with my wife if she needs to access something under my name.

In addition to storing logins, I can store secure notes, even storing login-specific notes within the login details for things like one-time-use passwords, etc. I can store various credit/debit cards and recall them into payment systems whenever I want, without storing them in a browser. When using the phone, I can tie the biometrics to the unlocking of my vault so, with the vault locked, I can easily unlock it to find the login/info I need to submit to an app or website.

Obviously, all this comes with their own risks, but the level of risk of a password management is far lower than the risk of reused passwords and the mismanagement of security at the corporate-level. If you’re really hard-up to keep your stuff offline, other products exist that are locally stored, but you’ll likely miss out on access from outside the home in the event you need that login info somewhere else.

Edit: I’ll also point out that the best passwords are ones that rely on unaffiliated words, with numbers or symbols sprinkled in. If I need to remember the password without my phone/outside help, I’ll rely on a password of 3-4 random words. Many of the password management tools available have some sort of password generation and Bitwarden’s can generate randomized character passwords or randomized word passwords. Once I find a word combo I like and can remember somewhat, I add a capital randomly, a number somewhere, and maybe even a symbol to make a password that would take million of years with current tech to decipher.

As always, you do you, but I find password management tools such as Bitwarden, with a minimal yearly price tag, worth it for the ease of password generation/storage and the ability to access those passwords wherever I need to.

Only reason COVID was so bad was because people were testing for it. Had they not done that, the number of confirmed cases would have been much lower in the US and abroad! /s

Moron or not, they have John Oliver and despite him shitting on them on almost every show, he remains and persists. Honestly, this would be prime time to pick up these two cause their audience will follow them no matter where they go!

I almost like it more because of the minimalist nature and reliance on shadow over form. If it was done in a hurry, then bravo as you have totally captured the essence of the model, adding clarity with only shadow and shade. I know nothing about art, but I really like these!
