Or 3 branches…
I prefer to just delete the whole .git and start a new repository with the new version. We are pivoting the project, new name and new repo

Technology@lemmy.ml•No account? No Windows 11 for you, says Microsoft
2·1 month agoThe great windows 10 shutdown is coming in a couple of weeks and I still haven’t upgraded my wife’s laptop! The main holdup is backing up, it turns out that hibernation need to be disabled in Windows 10 to do a proper backup, otherwise there is some sort of encryption on the backup. I wasted 2 days on this already copying 500GB just in case upgrade fails.
Upgrading to mint of course!
I’m guessing not - Google probably wants the data for itself.
Does this apply to Android studio?

Ours is named after my son’s YouTube channel… free advertising!

51·1 month agoSo I had an e-reader once but left it in the drawer because I found reading on my phone (dark mode) was so much more convenient.
I use librera which has tts and I alternate between reading with my eyes and listening to the robot voice narration (eg while driving). Those language packs have come a long way!
I think your isp could probably infer this all already from your internet traffic

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•what's your take on employers banning the use of languages other than English between coworkers at the workplace?

2·2 months agoI was just joking sorry, I just found the concept of AI doing fake static humorous. Forgot my \s
It’s actually really cool to see this and it brought back memories - I do wonder if they just looped a short bit or recorded the full 2 hours
This actually works for me. I will add another level though, sometimes instead of going back to the original project I start it over again because of something I learned in the second project giving me a better approach to the first. Mostly do this with programming

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a personal weakness you possess that is entirely not relevant to your daily life?
2·2 months agoAs someone who uses GitHub everyday, I don’t think about the layout at all. The uploading, downloading, version control etc is all done with terminal commands or desktop tools. So separate from the website (but my code still ends up on there).
If I ever have to go to GitHub.com in a browser it’s only to copy a repository URL and I always marvel at how ugly and convoluted that website looks.

7·2 months agoNot sure how you can it these days, but I recommend static on a TV over this.
Not anti theft but every now and again I have to restart my phone because of anti swipe protection. I just can’t find the setting to disable it.
It’s always fun when you have to hack your own device to do something.
Haven’t tried the YouTube app for years, but watch the content all the time - using newpipe/pipepipe and freetube/Kodi. I usually just “subscribe” to a few channels and stick to those

Android@lemmy.world•Google: 'Your $1000 phone needs our permission to install apps now'". Android users are screwedEnglish
302·2 months agoYeah this is going to affect android in multiple ways. I’m guessing that the emulators and YouTube apps are out, the Devs will have all their apps banned if they bother to register.
Personally I have a developer account but some apps I give away as open source. Now I’m going to have to register those apps and if one of them isn’t up to Google’s standards (whatever they say that is on the day) then ALL of my apps get banned!
I have multiple old android devices which can’t use lineagos because they are locked or just too obscure. But right now they can be used with f-droid apps for games and ad-free content. I’m guessing that’s going to change.
The barrier to entry will go up and even more old android devices will be thrown away. Make sure you buy a mainstream device that has a chance of being supported beyond the manufacturers 2 year support window - in my experience mobile and tablets actual lifespan is 4-5 years, up to 10 with new battery. Why are we forced to throw them away after 2 years? It’s a total scam.
A friend who had it reversed said that the reverse op was extremely painful (Vs the vasectomy which apparently was painless)

When windows XP went away I got 12 more years of updates on my old dell laptop - with Linux of course. The laptop died before 32 bit support did.
