We already know how Revelation starts, they’re skipping the entire ascension to drop us right in the crater border and you descend the slope, fight big shoes and Jenova, then the Nibelheim flashback. Icicle inn and the entire ascension will be done later, when you return. The snowboard minigame will be seen at the Saucer first.

The silliness in the remakes is fine.

  • OoT in particular has randomizer options that go crazy far. Randomize every bush drop, randomize temple entrances, randomize enemy placement, enemy size, randomize enemy souls to find in the world before they appear and can be fought (including bosses), randomize sound effects / sound tracks / voices, randomize where doors lead, randomize Triforce pieces to find in the world and win the game… And they keep track of what’s “in logic / out of logic” or not and let you toggle that, if you can’t do any glitch (bomb hover, ocarina bottle, weirdshot and such) then you want to be able to finish “in logic” meaning what you currently have is always enough to get the next item that will let you progress until the end without using glitches.

It’s for people who know the game inside and out including glitches and play it a thousand times.

  • His dad also lost and fled to Florida. The people who vote for those guys are convinced that they’re escaping political purge and repression and all that stuff, they pretend that the left is doing a tyranny so their side is right to go in exile for safety. Ignoring the part where he’s being arrested for all the fraud they commit, they claim it’s a false pretense. You know, classic projection, because that’s what they want to do when they win.

  • what if left-wing voters refuse to back the moderate (Edouard Philippe in France, Kamala Harris in the US), which just helps the far-right candidate to win (Le Pen in France, Trump in the US)?

If the second round is Melenchon vs Le Pen, then Le Pen’s victory becomes more likely.

So we’re gonna blame the leftists for not voting for the center right, but not the center right for not voting left againt the far right? And it’s Mélenchon’s fault people don’t like him, but not Philippe’s fault people don’t like him?

  • What vote do you think you’re talking about?

10 years ago, he was making (some) leftist promises (and right wing too yes), and the actual leftist party (which isn’t much left anymore today) was tying the noose around its own neck and breaking its own legs after ruling for 5 years and sliding to the right. Things burned then too because of that (in fact, it was precisely because the leftist president increased retirement age to 64). So he won 10 years ago.

Then 5 years ago, he made sure to screw the left and push to set the far right as his opponent in the last election round. So he easily won that too because people don’t want the far right.

There were regional votes too that were supposed to force him to get a left wing prime minister, but he just said nu-uh and kept pushing right.

    Now things burn again.

  • Western Democracy

Reminder that Athenian democracy at the time was land-owning men voting to exile those who said things they didn’t like, and voting to steal the money in the common defense funds to use to repair Athens and build walls around it, and also fund garrisons around the other cities that were expected to keep paying into that fund, after the Persian threat was long gone - with the garrisons turned toward those cities.

  • The period of the Babylonian captivity, when they were brought to Babylon as prisoners and stayed several decades through the 6th c. BCE before being freed by Cyrus II, is likely a point where they brought a lot of Babylonian culture back to Jerusalem. Plus, the god of the Bible comes from two origins, Yahweh and El, the latter being a storm god that had a lot of cultural osmosis in the entire second millennium BCE, being associated with Enlil and Baal, through whom the Sumerian and Akkadian stories did get around. So there’s definitely a part where some of those stories made their way into Canaanite culture by themselves, then the Hebrews and Jews, naturally over several centuries to become their own ancestral culture, and a part where the Jews brought back and adopted Babylonian stories when they returned from the exile. We can tell because of the narrative / writing style and the variations that we can find, we can date when some of those stories appeared.

In the case of the Flood story, the text has too many similarities, identical lines, to not be straight up copy-pasted from Babylonian texts after the exile - but even then, there’s a couple variations of the Biblical story that does suggest they already had a memory of that story in their own culture (40 days or 7 days, that sort of details). It’s fairly likely that they simply considered that those stories were about the same god as their El, in the same way the Greeks would go “oh, you have a god of thunder too? I bet his name is Zeus. I like your story about Zeus.” And really, they’re not wrong, since they do have the same origin, they are in fact the same god, branching into many cultures across Mesopotamia over a couple millennia.

So no, they definitely didn’t know anything about the actual event that inspired the deluge story (you can tell by how it’s all an abstract threat to them, because the Jordan river doesn’t flood anything like the Euphrates, compared to the real threat and pain of exile), but they knew about the story of the deluge.

  • I’ve never been to Marseille but it has a reputation of being where the mafia is, gang clashes and all, and where there are more of the poor suburbs than Paris. It’s also where we see more frequently news of groups of asshole kids using mortars on cops - Paris is not far behind, especially during riots like this one, but around Marseille it just happens sometimes when a kid gets shot because of gang rivalries and cops response with raids blasting doors in apartment buildings because they decided someone lived there. It’s also where guns get around, which it doesn’t much in Paris or its poorer suburbs, hence the gang problem. A few years ago there was also an incident where firefighters got ambushed there, that one was pretty bad.

I figure actually living there is not close at all to this reputation, but gang shit does happen there.

  • If there’s one thing we know it’s not, it’s those kinds of floods, because those you talk about come from Ice Age and giant glaciers sliding or breaking down giant lakes. There was none of those in the Middle East when humans existed, not in Mesopotamia which is a giant flat plain, and that’s where those stories came. We know the biblical account is a copy of the Sumerian account, and we know what event the Sumerian account comes from. It’s not an Ice Age story, and it doesn’t come from an earlier, older memory from WAY further North. The closest event to that is indeed the Black Sea expansion that happened at the end of that period, and we know that one took a few thousand years.
