People have been debating their standards for media, entertainment and franchises for longer than we have written history. Literally, look up Roman graffiti. It’s fine, it’s fun even. If you’re seeing malice and stress in these kinds of debates, you need to back away from it entirely for a bit. Just don’t get involved, stay healthy.

Critique of media is so fun! It’s the clannish obsession with fighting over the objectively “true” instance of a piece of media that’s so tiring.
Though I agree it’s small potatoes, and usually just a proxy for generational or class fielty divisions.
Yeah I’ve spoken to enough young people who watched the prequels first that I no longer begrudge them their nostalgia.
I just don’t share it, and that’s ok. I’d rather define myself by what I enjoy than what I turn my nose up at.
