The Church has been trying to become more liberal in recent years (following the trend in Western societies), yet the number of believers in these societies has continued to decline because religious faith itself is simply falling out of fashion in liberal societies.
Those who remain after the exodus are conservative hardliners who, as in most other religions, are having more children in accordance with the principle “Be fruitful and multiply” and are therefore making up an ever-larger portion of the religious community. Conservatives all over the world are banking on precisely this calculation
