Die moralisch verwerfliche Unterstützung Russlands passiert aus rationalen, nicht ideologischen Gründen. Von daher halte ich Kooperation (und das aufzeigen der Vorteile von freiheitlichen Staaten) für besser als eine Konfrontation die wir uns (nach den aufziehenden Koflikten mit China und USA) ohnehin nicht leisten könnten. Um zu überleben braucht Europa im Moment dringend neue Partner.

Nicht erwähnt wird dabei das eigentliche Problem: Mit all den Daten, die da erhoben werden, muss hinterher auch jemand arbeiten und sie auswerten. Selbst wenn das eine funktionierende Präventionsstrategie wäre, haben die Polizei und Dienste nicht die Kappazitäten sich durch die Datenberge verdächtiger Bürger zu wühlen um die eine Nadel im Heuhaufen zu finden. Ich meine wie oft hört man, nicht nur bei uns sondern auch auswärts, ,der Täter war polizeibekannt / nachrichtendienstlich erfasst". Heißt man hätte, wenn man denn die Daten auswerten könnte, vielleicht die Tat verhindern können… aber es mangelt eben nicht an Gesetzen sondern Ressourcen. Die Alternative ,mehr Personal" statt ,härtere Gesetzte" würde aber tatsächlich Geld kosten… daher ist Gesetze verschärfen um den EIndruck von Aktionismus zuerwecken immer beliebter. Und ja, Mord, Diebstahl, Terrorismus war vorher schon schwer strafbar… aber einen emotionsgetriebenen Täter hält das Strafmaß eben nachweislich nicht ab. Verschärfungen im Wirtschaftsstrafrecht wären hingegen mal was sinnvolles… dort rechnen die Täter nämlich ob es sich lohnt erwischt zu werden, aber ich denke das ist von CxU nicht zu ertwarten.

On reddit I tended to be lurker. And if most of us are the few which actually POST content are the those with strong (mostly political) views who are willing to commit to their cause by flooding the zone with political fights.

Coclusion: If we want a cozy lemmy we need to join/start non-political, subject specific communities and actually CONTRIBUTE something instead of just consuming. Otherwise this cluster of plattforms will end up like all the other due to the same reasons.

What you’re describing isn’t Lemmy specific I think, same happens of you browse the news feed of reddit (and most probably also other social media).

What helps me is subscribing to non-political topics and scrolling through your own feed of non-political stuff instead of the main site… gardening, hobbies, memes… that’s what these sites once ought to be made for. Not 24/7 political bombardment.

Given their inactivity and assumed unwillignes to figth against the rise of Trumps dictatorship I have little hopes that the midterms change anything… also given that Trump seems to ignore the parliaments whenevwr he likes.
