I’ve never heard of Sub meaning hero. I think I just got lucky guesses on the rest after yellow

It bothers me when a word from the category is in the answers. Maybe that’s just a holdover from doing crosswords where having part of the answer be in the clue is frowned on. A long sandwich is referred to by various names and spellings in different regions, including sub/submarine, hero/gyro/yiro, grinder, hoagie, etc. Maybe you just hadn’t seen that spelling before

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a sub (in the sandwich sense) referred to as a hero in the UK. If I’m reading that right. But then we generally don’t use sub for sandwiches either. Thanks for the explanation
What do you call it in the UK?
Unless you go to a Subway (which we’d just call the stuff a subway) we’d probably use the term roll or baguette actually.
