To be honest, i’d rather wait 6 months if that means the prices are not completly fucked.
I’m currently building a pc for my kid and i had to go to a DDR3 system from 2014 to have decent prices. The market is so screwed right now.
An i7 4970K (DDR3) or similar CPU can actually be decent in 2026 for gaming.
I hope so, i got one :). But nvme is expensive, gpu is expensive, it just sucks. But, the kid will learn about upgrading your stuff, i hope :)
This is what i donated to my SO and she is happily gaming on it every now and then. It may be old but it is still good.
Would be ideal to release with the price they need it to be and do a price cut later but I know that’s difficult to do realistically.
We’re not getting any younger here. Prices have been creeping up for a while and the longer we wait, the idea of saving a few hundred dollars might end up being a wash with inflation and time lost. Also, there’s no guarantee prices won’t be even higher in 6 months.
I wish they would go ahead and release the controller. I am will to “
beta” release test it on linux. At the same time we’re getting news that the new PC-compatible Xbox will cost $1,000 to $1,200 and is astronomically more powerful than both the Steam Machine and Series X, with a release in 2027.
I gave Valve so much benefit of the doubt and really wanted to support this project, but unless they take the Steam Machine as a loss leader or somehow ships it before June, it’s dead in the water next to Project Helix. I knew that eventually the Steam Machine would be unable to keep up with AAA games, but that may happen just months after launch now.
If you can’t compete with Sony, just pick on the little guy, right?
What makes you think anything Microsoft builds or releases will be anything but mediocre garbage? Have you seen what they have been doing lately?
exactly haha
Upvoted because there is a good possibility that this thing crashes and burns. The hybrid idea isn’t a bad one, but it is Xbox we’re talking about. It’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out.
I’m willing to pay more to steam even if Microsoft releases something better for cheaper. Fuck Microsoft.
I mean, I’ll still be doing that too, I’m just more nervous now.
